Sue, I got a copy of Ivanhoe from the library yesterday. It was long (2 disc) but good. It has Christopher Lee as Beaumanoir. I can really see Dan in this role. Our cast will be amazing with all their characters. I can't wait until faire.

This faire is more to me than ex-tended family. I'm closer to many of the people there than my true family. It makes me sad to hear that Terry will not be returning. However, no matter who the entertainment is or is not I will be there every day and will support the vendors, cast, and entertainment that is there. Also to answer the earlier question regarding the theme this year. I heard it is Ivanhoe. I'm gonna watch the old 1952 movie with Elizabeth Taylor, Joan Fontaine and Robert Taylor as the title character. I know of at least 4 remakes of the story and this one is the best in my opinion. I just can't wait to see the faire's take on the story. Sue I love the faire also but there is a difference between a starving artist and published artist. One makes money and one is starving. Quality drives customers to return to the faire not just love. You can love people who own a restaraunt but if the food makes you ill, you wont go back.

When will the acts be listed, i've checked the site and its not updated...or....I may be presuming incorrectly, is this turning into a cast fair? My children are both young, and they enjoy the younger activities available to them, and they are far too young to interact with the cast regarding the themes. Of course my hubby and I enjoy the acts when my parents take the kids. But for the youngest children that attend the only "acts" that are good for them were in the fairy region, spritz, and the pirate magician....I cannot take them to other shows, being they are both under 5 they become bored with the other acts.

We will still have performers. Just not as many as we have had in recent years. Johnny Phoenix, Menagerie, Washing Well Wenches, Owain are ones I know for sure off the top of my head tha will be there. I am sure we will have a joust, and a chess match. Not sure if the water dragon is coming back, but I haven't heard that he isn't. As to when the official site will be updated With the size of our cast this year, I am sure they will be putting on some kind of play in faryland again.

To Troll, You are right that quality does make people return to faire and the quality of our faire is ine of the many reasons I keep coming back. Each Year we try to purchase Items friom vendors and acts. But, being a one one income family I can say it is getting harder and harder to do, artists are not the only ones who can starve.

Just a thought about the Medieval Faire web site::
I noticed they have dates for 2010.
The 2010 description for the Faire : "" Join King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and the Knights of the Round Table as they visit the village of Avaloch for a day of Celebration and Festivities!.""
Isn't the theme this year Ivanhoe, or did I hear that incorrectly?

Well, what's a 100 years to the mundanes as the basic description of the Faire has always said 13th Century Medieval Faire and "Ivanhoe" as Sir Walter Scott wrote it is set in 12th Century England...believe me, after the first 1,000 years...you lose count!

Richard, Capt. Stout--- I feel so bad for you. How hateful some people are !!!... I, for one, LOVE your singing. And, your commentary during your shows.
