I was wondering if you would be back. Last I checked, there was nothing on your website though.

Terry Griffiths just wrote on Facebook that he wasn't asked back for this coming summer. Sounds like he turned down other work in prep for the gig.

That sucks, after all the support Terry gave us on the trustee issue. And he is a great entertainer, sorry to see he won't here. I for one will miss him.

When will the acts be mentioned? No offense to the cast, but we like to see the acts and our kids had an absolutely wonderful time last year, Spritz the water dragon was their favorite!

Thanks, Hank. Unfortunately, it is true. I was told just last week that I wouldn't be back this year. It has been a devastating blow since I won't be playing at the Pittsburgh faire either (my choice). I know the decision was due to budget cuts and many of the entertainers that you are used to seeing will not be returning either. It's sad to see another faire in a downward spiral. Playing renaissance and medieval faires has been a very happy part of my life but now I must seek other venues. Unless some miracle happens, my last performance as a faire stage act will be May 1st at the Ohio State University Renaissance and Medieval Faire in Columbus, Oh. It would be great to see my friends one more time. All the best to GMLF and my dear friends there. Long Live Avaloch.

I am very sad to hear you won't be at GLMF this summer. But as an OSU student, I am very excited to hear you're coming to our faire!

So Britny. Since you're "in the loop" so to speak, how about posting the details on this faire, Date, Time, Cost, EXACT LOCATION, that sort of stuff. Since OSU is kind of a big place. Could save some one from aimlessly wandering about Columbus. Who knows, Columbus ain't that far away, maybe we can mosey on down and see Terry and annoy you. Could be fun.

We also have a thread for that faire, here tay666.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=faire&action=display&thread=1730That really sucks that Terry won't be back. And from the sounds of it, they are cutting back on the entertainment budget. I kind of worried about that with the low attendance we had last year, due to the really crappy weather most weekends.

It is sad to hear that Terry will not be back. He definitely was one of my favorites.
It is also sad that the entertainment budget is being cut but you cannot just blame it on the weather. - Prices have increased every year - The economy has not been very good lately - People do not like the funny money idea - Every year it seems like there are discussions about cutting the budget - The vendors get harassed (at least with Ashtabula only having one sheriff per shift that will stop) - We are losing quality acts to other faires - Ongoing legal issues with the community leaders
The list goes on. I'm sorry for venting here but I get depressed whenever I see the list of quality acts that are not returning.

I can comiserate with you. Though I will withhold judgement until I see exactly what entertainment we actually are going to have.
The past few years we have truely been spoiled by a wide variety of very good tallent. Sadly, I don't thnk that was enough to pull enough people through the gate to sustain itself. Probably didn't help that I think they lost big on Halloween Knights last year as well. More horrible weather every weekend for that, as well as it being a new attraction, there just wasn't a ton of people attending it.

Hi all, Too bad that Terry won't be back..........
I see Circa Paleo will be back! AND, it will be most wonderful having Lizzie and John back in the shire! Like everyone else, can't wait to see who "made the cut".

You have some high's and lows. when I became involved 10 yrs ago, there wasn't nearly as many vendors nor acts, esp nearby the chessboard.
Yes, weather plays a huge part, but...cast, patrons and regulars make it magical. We can and must endure and persevere..
It is Still Our Beloved Shire and Ex-Tended family--and don't ever forgot that!
Love You all~

This faire is more to me than ex-tended family. I'm closer to many of the people there than my true family. It makes me sad to hear that Terry will not be returning. However, no matter who the entertainment is or is not I will be there every day and will support the vendors, cast, and entertainment that is there. Also to answer the earlier question regarding the theme this year. I heard it is Ivanhoe. I'm gonna watch the old 1952 movie with Elizabeth Taylor, Joan Fontaine and Robert Taylor as the title character. I know of at least 4 remakes of the story and this one is the best in my opinion. I just can't wait to see the faire's take on the story. Sue
