I hear ya! I for one am fed up with all these silly ass name changes and simply refuse to participate.
I do call Lawson's, Circle K because no one under the age of forty knows what the heck you're talking about otherwise.
But a few other examples I refused to take part in:
Geauga Lake > Six flags: I don't give a damn how many flags ya had it was still Geauga Lake to me.
Jacob/regressive field ( sorry, they don't play well enough to be called Progressive) to me it is the INDIANS stadium, plain and simple.
Gund Arena (sounds like a venereal disease!) or whatever it's name is now, is simply the Cav's arena to me.
Bob Hope bridge: Not really, still Lorain Carnegie to me. Same with the Veterans Memorial bridge, no way, It will always be the Detroit- Superior.
Summit Raceway Park, not hardly. it's Norwalk Raceway as far as I'm concerned.
HANK.

Oh, and I would say those in their 30's would still get it. It was still Lawsons when I was in my late teens.

Dill, FYI. Bob Hope's father, or Grandfather, I forget which, was one of the stone masons who carved the statues that adorn the pillars at each end of the bridge. So a decade or so back the mayor or somebody renamed the bridge in honor of Bob who lived in Cleveland as a kid. I'm sure you could go online and find out the whole story. HANK. HEY!!!! Since he is a local boy maybe Axle could book him for the faire next summer! Ya, I know, he's not with us any more....But hey, he could be the original "DEAD BOB!" ;D Somebody please adjust my medication

Dead Bob... I like it. Maybe it could be a comedy team with boneyard Bing.
As for next season.... We all have acts we want back, most of them will be if they have their choice. A few might end up with better offers and I wish them the best in that. Honestly, there are a couple that I would just as soon not see return because I think the space could go to a better performer.
but I trust Brian to give us a nice mix of comedy, thrills and culture.
A note to those acts who may be looking in... While there is always a segment of your crowd that wants to see your same show in the exact same cadence as last season, the rest of us would not mind seeing you branch out and try some new material. It's fresh for us and fresh for you that way and any change in your performance will help you show enthusiasm for the job you love. (because you can't go through the motions when they are new movements)
that said, anything that actually educates a bit such as our Professor this season would be a welcome addition. I like seeing shows such as the glass blowing demos that teach as well as entertain.

That was one thing really cool about Johnny Phoenix this season. Got to see him try some new material at a few shows. The plastic wrap was definitely different, and I am so glad I got to see him try that one out.

Okay Hank, I enjoyed that bit of trivia about the bridge, and learned something to boot. And I LOVE those statues.....they remind me of the statues of the kings ( the Argonath ) in 'Lord Of The Rings.'
Funny thing is, I'd assumed I'd never heard it called 'Bob Hope' because I'm still fairly new out here. Then I mentioned it to Ivy.....who's spent most of her life out here....... and she'd never heard it called that either! They even still call it Lorain Carnegie on the news and in the paper, so I don't feel so lost now.
