I know we're all busy with keeping up to date on the trustee race, as well as other various things in our lives (personally, i'm eyeball deep in accouting homework these days), but I am curious....we had some truly awesome acts this year, both weekly and visiting.
What are everyone's thoughts for the 2010 run? Any acts you really want to return?

There were so many acts that Bill and I loved. Of the new acts we loved Odd's Bodkins, The Harper and the Minstrel and Dueling Fools. Our favorite old acts are (in no particular order)Porter and Stout, Silent Lion, Johnny Phoenix, Owain Phyfe, and Terry Griffiths. Acts we'd like to return Menagerie (I totally understand why they weren't there this year) and Maidens IV.

I know I really missed Maiden IV this season.
For new acts, I missed the Bawdy Babes but heard they were really good. So I would like to see them back next season so I can catch them. The pipe bands were great, would love to see them return. Always good to see Zoltan and Slash back in the shire too. And of court Terry Griffith.
As for the regulars. Always great to see Johnny, Broon, Wonderfool, Porter & Stout, and the rest of our regulars.

Circo? Circa? Pale? Paleo.......To me they are just the band formally known as something else. By next year who knows what they will be calling themselves. They've changed their name every year.
I for one liked Will the Fiddler. I got to know the guy and he is a lot of fun. Of course Terry Griffith. Anyone who drives up from Pittsburgh on a Thursday night to attend a small town trustee meeting deserves our support.
The Naughty Bawdy Babes were good, would like to see them again. Odd Bodkins was another good show.
Probably a few others I just can't think of right now, I'll come back to this later.
HANK.
All that Hank put down and Red McWilliams and Empty Hats. Bunnie

I'd love to see Empty Hats back at GLMF, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen since they signed a three year contract with Sterling. Still, it was great to have them and I think our shire made quite an impression!
I'd really like to see Terry back for more than one weekend!

Circo? Circa? Pale? Paleo.......To me they are just the band formally known as something else. By next year who knows what they will be calling themselves. They've changed their name every year. Hank, be nice. Finding the right people to perform together can be tough. I can tell you that Circa Paleo is here to stay. There was talk about adding 2 more permanent members to the band, but I could be wrong. I also would like Maidens IV back. I don't know the circumstances, but how a local act such as this not be at our faire is sad. Menagerie for obvious reasons, but understand why they can't perform. We've always taken for granted that they would be around. Lisa and John are absolute saints and tough people. To have endure 3 major, life-changing, events just in the past few years would make lesser people fall apart, but they have kept things going. Would like to see Hack & Slash back, but Danger Slash was still pretty nice. Pipes bands were indeed awesome. A friend of mine plays in the Geauga Pipe band. All in all...the entertainment and acts were pretty good this year.

BK....Who's not being nice? I caught a couple of their shows and enjoyed them.....BUT!! Ya know what? Ya don't have to change your damn name everytime you get a new band member. A lot of really big name groups have replaced individual members over the span of their career and kept the same name. I'm sure Dillasandra, with her musical knowledge, could cite a dozen examples without even trying very hard. To me, it just makes it easier for the fans to keep track of you. HANK.

If you don't know the circumstances, how can you say that.........there are reasons for everything........my goodness, people seem very quick to judge.

Down, guys! Hank isn't judging, just making a point. Come to it, I really doubt the subject is uppermost in his life! I'm sure they have good reason.....or maybe they just like to change names. My brother had a band with the same guys for years and they changed the name at least once a year, generally because they simply got bored with the old one! I must say, though, that it DID make it harder for fans to follow. Of course, the Faire band plays at the FAIRE every year, whereas the guys went from club to bar to party.............
Anyway, I know Hank isn't trying to be bitchy here or stir up trouble......just make a point.
And yeah, Hank, I could name about a million bands like that. Hell, Black Sabbath alone would have had to have changed the name so many times that THEY probably wouldn't have remembered who they were! And you just KNOW one of those names would have had a rainbow in it..................( sorry! Inside joke! )

Peace

An open mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Sorry guys. I gotta agree with Hank. It is confusing.
Not saying there is anything wrong with the band changing their name, but for most people it just seems confusing. Most will still refer to them by whatever name the band had when they discovered them. It's human nature. I have no clue how to say or spell their latest name. To me, they are still Emuzeke. And they probably always will be. Just like that big arena in downtown Cleveland is still the Gund in my mind, not whatever they happen to be calling it this week.
