Now, I liked it! I thought it was a good set-up to the series. I like that this isn't a well oiled machine, and more a hodge-podge of people. Should make for some interesting interactions and back stories. As for LDP, thankfully he was killed in the attack on the base. He's ok for TV movies, but for a series . . . no thanks.

Thankfully??! What's your problem with Phllips? I've enjoyed him for a lot of years, in series ( Lately, a recuring character in Numbers ), movies and stand alone roles going all the way back to when we were both in our teens! I personally think he'd make a fine character in Stargate, instead of being wasted on 5 seconds of screen time. What was the point of that anyway??!

According to IMDB he is in 7 episodes. As for why I don't really want him in the series [shrug] I just think he is kind of jynxed when it comes to genre type shows. After all, he had a big role in Wolf Lake, and look what happened to that. And to be honest, I never was all that impressed with his acting ability. Sure, he can pull off the silent and stern type, like a military officer. But I've never seen him show any kind of range outside of that.

If indeed he did get blown up in the attack on the base then I assume he will only be appearing in flashbacks? Since 7 episodes will probably constitute the entire first season of the show I figure I will watch it thru that and if it doesn't get better then I will not stick with it like I did with BSG for four dreary seasons.

Yeah, we'll give it some time.
According to T.V. Guide, Phillips has some juicy parts with, quote, 'Blazing Heroics,' comming up. Looking forward to that.

What's up with SG-U? I thought L.D. Phillips was killed in the attack on the base in the first episode, yet last night he had another 10 seconds of screen time at what looked like the pentagon. Was that a flash back or what? They seem to use flashbacks quite a lot on this show so it makes it hard to know just when an event is taking place in the time line.
Can't help but wonder if those idiots thought to send out the flying camera ball to search for water before just picking a direction and wandering off "thata way?" I mean they could have walked EAST from the gate for a zillion miles and found nothing, when there could have been a lake a 1/4 mile WEST of the gate.
I'm starting to like the one soldier, Greer, I think his name is. He doesn't suffer fools well, and Bush and Eli are a couple of idiots. I only wish he had shot him last night in the fight over the water. One less pain in the ass to put up with. That guy makes Rodney McKay look good. They better hope they run into some alien race like the Asgard to help them out otherwise their dumb asses are doomed.
Remember I said "if they were a football team, they would be the third string?" Well, to be more correct, they would be the BROWNS third string! and we all know how good they are.

Was that a flash back or what? They seem to use flashbacks quite a lot on this show so it makes it hard to know just when an event is taking place in the time line. I thought he died too. Looks like he survived. They seem to be using him as the contact point with those goofy gems. (remember. The ones Daniel and Vala used to originally find out about the Ori on SG-1) It is a bit disjointing to have them switch places like that. You kind of have to put your brain in a different gear to get what is going on. Like when they had the daughter tell her mother that her father the politician died. In reality, her body was still badk on the ship and being used by that other girl. While her mind was in the other girl's body, delivering the news to her mother. Hopefully they don't contact Earth all that much. Just too confusing. I liked the part with Jack though. The guy is telling him about all the problems,. and Jack is like "Fix it". Which is so full of common sense that it is just shocking to see it on TV. You have the people you have, and the resurces that you happen to have around you. It may not be ideal, but work with what you've got and get it done.

Yeah, I gotta agree with you about it being confusing. And I do remember when Daniel and Vala used them back on SG-1. What I'd like to know is how do you "dial In" to a particular person? I mean you stick this stone in your ear, or on your forehead, whatever, How do you "call" someone at SG-1 command? You might end up talking to some aborigine in the Australian outback. They said the ship was launched thousands of years ago so how would the "Ancients" know to program the rock to call O'Neil, or whoever at SG-1? If they ever explained that, I must uv missed it.

They brought the stones with them. So they could communicate across long distances. I assume they have one of the matching stones back at SG! so they know who they would be making a connection with. At least I think so. They never really did explain how they work all that well.

Indeed, it does seem like the "explanation" is, "we have these magic stones that allow you to communicate over vast distances by jumping into the consciousness of someone else. as when Jackson and Vala used them and seemed to end up in the bodies of a couple of rabble rouser's and damn near got burned at the stake by the Ori on some far flung planet they hadn't even discovered yet.
As for Santuary, saw it on tape last night. Not sure if I like the direction the show is going in. This turning Ashley into a vampire thing is stupid in my opinion. I hope they are able to "reverse" her somewhere down the road. And if they convert that dark haired girl to the "good side" and make her one of the team to replace Ashley, That's it for that show as far as I'm concerned, we're tuning out. That is getting just a little too cliche for me. Didn't that happen with Vala on SG-1, and with that girl from Warehouse 13 who hacked into their security to free her brother from the Phantom zone? And God knows how many other shows.
these screenwriters are getting horrible. It's nothing but the same ole cliched remake of an idea that has been used so many times it's grown stale already.

The TV Guide lists Sanctuary at 7:00 PM next Friday (10/16). Since the NEW episode is on at 10:00 PM I can only assume that the early one will be a repeat of last Friday. Set your VCR and check it out.

Hank. I don't think they will be replacing Ashley. But I do think that dark haired girl will probably stick around, at least for a little while. And yes, it may be a bit overdone, but I won't mind if they get her on their side for a while. MAybe it's because I like the character so far (and not just because she is good looking) I like her attitude, and sarcasm.
I think the bringing Ashley back and fixing her storyline will probably run for a while. Otherwise it is a waste if they make it too easy. I don't have a problem with what the Cabal has done to her. After all, both her parents have vampire blood.
