When is the last time you watched the original? It was pure kiddie fluff. I still watch an occasional one on Sci-Fi when they have their mini-marathons of them. They are ok for nostalgia sake. But mostly I cringe when I watch them.

I also was a little leary in the new BSG series the first season because of the the old one but the first year tagged me and now this 2nd season has brought me in.
It is a little dark as you say but it works with the story line since the earth has been destroyed and they must start over.
Also it isn't all doom and gloom all the time. They have fun too.
The SCIFI line up is 8-11 Fridays.
wish we could help on the recorded shows but have to erase after so many recordings.

since the earth has been destroyed and they must start over. Earth hasn't been destroyed. They are searching for earth. Which happens to be the 13th colony. The 12 colonies that they are from have been taken over by the cylons, but have not been destroyed. The planets are still there.

Hank here... Yeah, I watched all 3 last night. Liked SG-1 and SGA. Battlestar is getting better, the plot line between Adama and the chick from the other battlestar is heating up into something good! each one trying to screw over the other. I have no idea why the Cylons need to kill us off, we'll do it to ourselves. all they need do is sit back and watch...Save a fortune on ammo too! Almost gave up on BSG after the first season. That plot line with Helo and Boomer on the planet was just too dragged out and going nowhere. All in all , in my opinion none of the people on BSG are all that likable, who gives a damn if the Cyclons kill them off? While on this subject: anyone watching Surface and Invasion on the network? Sounds like Surface has run it's course already. When I watched Monday they were talking about the final four ep already.

I'm starting to like the plot about the 2 Admirals being at each others throat because power works that way and in a world that is starting over it can happen.

I must say last nights Battlestar had a surprise twist at the end. The previews would have you believe Starbuck had the gun pointed at Adm. Cains head but that was not the case! I know I did not see that coming. Trevor...as to the original Battlestar being "kiddie fluff" yeah...maybe. but in my opinion the original Baltar was more menacing... this Baltar is a total doofus! HANK.

True about Baltar. Though the original Baltar, while more sinister, was much more a bumbling fool.
As for the twist, saw it coming a mile away. Previews are always cut to misdirect. So whatever they make you think is going to happen, won't.

Well as to SG-1 and SGA. I think they should introduce the wraith to the Ori. I'm sure they will enjoy each other. As for BSG. these people are dumber then a box of rocks! They find this planet, settle down and totally drop their guard. I would expect better from Starbuck. And ya gotta wonder what is up with the Cylons. do they really want to annihilate us, I mean, they did nuke 12 planets at the beginning of it all. But now it seems like they just want to screw with us. Come on! we have 50,000 people and two battlestars and they seem to have an endless number of mother ships and can turn out Cylons like Henry Ford turned out Model T's, you would think they could overwhelm us any time they wanted to. I think we should introduce the Cylons to the Borg. They will have a lot in common.
And what is up with these GOOFY Seasons? The Stargates are returning in July, but BSG is not coming back until October! Maybe by then they can hire some better writers. Curious to check out the new Doctor Who. I never was a big fan of British Sci-Fi, but the girl looks cute. HANK.

Got a couple of Battlestar questions, so Trevor or SSG, or any fan of the show who can help me out here please 999999999999999999999999999999999902 ( cat stepped on key board, gotta love furball helpers) As I was saying. If ya can help me out here, please do so.
Now then! Way back before the Cylons nuked the 12 colonies, Roselin was like the Under secretary of pre- schoolers or some minor official. Now the bombs fall, everyone in the government is killed but her, so she rises to the job of prez. Right?
So! Now they are in space running from the Cylons, and they hold an election and Roselin gets ELECTED president with Baltar as her VP. OK, got that.
Now then, a few episodes back, Starbuck leads this rescue mission back to Capraca to save Sam's butt and the other freedom fighters who got left behind. Now, for some reason I got the notion that that mission took place about nine months AFTER they all took to space because of the Cylon attack. I THINK they flashed that time line on the bottom of the screen. So, on the way back, one of the Raptors gets "lost" and finds this planet they are all living on. Does that sound correct?
So then. Just before they all settle down on this planet and grow corn or whatever, they hold another election and make Baltar the new Prez. So if I got this correct, that means they held TWO presidential elections in a space of 9 months? Damn!! I wish we could get rid of those Bozo's in D.C. that often!! Heck, I know township trustees who are in office longer that that.
Now, I will be the first to admit I find the show some what slow paced and boring, and if I've had a rough Friday I tend to doze off from time to time while watching it, so Maybe I missed something here. But I don't think they have been in space long enough to hold two elections. Ain't no 4 years gone by. Has it? So if anybody can set me straight here I would appreciate it. HANK.

Actually Hank. In season one it was an election for the vice-presidency. Baltar agains Zarek. Rosalin was president because whe was the highest ranking official left in line for the position. But the quarem of 12 insisted on having an election for the vice-presidency and set a timeline for presidential elections in the future. Which is what just happened. The presidential election.
