Okay, just finished posting on the 'What Song Caught Your Attention' thread, and the Imp of the Perverse has whispered inspiration in my ear. ( Yeah, that happens a lot !)
What song do you absolutely HATE? And why? Give you an example here.....Freda Payne and' Band of Gold'', makes my skin crawl. Was this woman REALLY that virginally innocent? ( Oh, come ON !!!!) Or just an idiot?! Anyway, the thing's always driven me crazy!
So, what song made YOU trip over the dog, rushing to the radio to turn it down today? Feel quite free to list more than one.....I'll certianly be adding to the list as we go along!
And while I'm at it.....Queen's' Bohemian Rapsody' ( I know THAT one will cause controversy!) and that damn thing about the 'big black horse and the cherry tree'.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

"Put the Lime With the Coconut" by Harry Nilsson Catchy beat but it has a total of maybe 10 different words. There is nothing to the song.
"Eight Days a Week" By the Beatles. It is the exact same 4 sentences repeated over and over.

About 90% to 95% of what I've been hearing on the radio lately.
Hey, I like both "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree"! ;-)

Yeah - I love both those songs....
Not so keen on um.... "Roxanne" by the Police. as unprofessionally sung by anyone who I meet for the first time.

I used to like Bohemian Rhapsody but now it just bores me to death.
Much like many songs from yesteryear that I once liked but now just can't bear to listen to. Not really hate, but just tired of them. Including the Doors, most Led Zep, CCR, Hendrix, and others I can't think of right now.

I love Roxanne, just because it makes one heck of a drinking game. (Drink on "Roxanne".) Almost as good a drinking game as Rob Zombie's "More Human Than Human". (Drink on "Yeah".)
But the songs I truly, truly despise...
"Silent Night" and "Jingle Bell Rock" - Just thinking about these two songs *STILL* makes my skin crawl. Early last December, a drunken gay cowboy ex-con offered my pot, then threatened my at knifepoint if I didn't get up to sing "Jingle Bell Rock" for karaoke. And this is after throwing his arm around my shoulders, and serenading me with "Silent Night". There's a lot more details to that frightening Brokeback Mountain near-experience, but that's what it boils down to. ... And now I have an aversion to both country bars and karaoke, and a larger reason for hating Christmas music.

So long as we're discussing Christmas in August here, I don't mind most of the old standards, as long as they aren't TOO badly slaughtered...mostly they just fade into background music. But the 'novelty' songs are another story! ONCE a year, MAYBE! And if I NEVER hear 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' again....... Though if you want to make ME punch babies.....?! John Denver's 'Please, Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas' will do it every time!!!

Hey, "Love in an Elevator" makes me chuckle every time I hear it..
Fidgit, I think you'll like the Stones a bit more after this joke:
Q: What's the difference between the Rolling Stones and a Scotsman? A: The Stones sing "Hey, you, get off of my cloud" and a Scotsman sings "Hey, McCleod, get off of my ewe!"

Okay Dill, who the hell is John Mayer and what did he sing? For someone who listens to the radio all day in the garage on when I travel in my car I really pay scant attention to it, it is just "back ground" I can't really say I intensely like or dislike any particular song. If so, in the car I just punch up another station. And in the garage there is usually so much other noise going on I can hardly hear the radio anyway. The truth be known, probably 75% of the songs and artists named on this or the songs I like thread I have never heard of. I may have heard the song on the radio at some time in my life, but just have no idea who performs them. John Mayer being one such person. I may have heard a dozen of his songs, but I have no idea what he has sung. HANK.

Hank, Here is a link to a song you probably do know by John Mayer. When you click on the link it will bring you right to the song. I kinda like this song. Guitar hero....NO WAY....nice singing voice, yea. He sings the song: Waiting on the world to change. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXWXQeHCWpo
