I've never seen the Dresden Files (no cable) but I've read the books, and they are GREAT! I've heard good things about the series, but I'll withhold my judgement until I actually see it.
Oh, and Hank, not to worry about Karrin Murphy's problem with disbelief. The series is only in book 1 season 1. If the series stays true to it's roots, Murphy will soon be forced to believe, and by book 2 (season 2?) even kicking some serious werewolf ass!
Somebody tell me now, is Bob the Skull part of the series? Or Mister? Wouldn't be the same without them........

Dill...yep, Bob is there. Don't recall anyone named Mister, but the show is only in episode 6 or 7, so maybe Mister, who ever he/she/it is has not benn introduced yet. Can't tell ya, don't know. HANK.

Is he the council rep? If so, then he is in the series. Big black dude with no sense of humor at all.

Trevor...Talked with Dill. on the phone earlier this evening and I asked about Mister. He is Harry's CAT! I taught I taw a putty tat in one of the episodes, but he has not been introduced to us yet. I think he just walked across the room in the back ground or something. Dill says that in the books Bob enters into the cat on occasion so he can go out and about in the world, but in the TV show I do believe Bob has traveled outside of Harry's place on his own, so maybe the show is a tad different then the books. Wouldn't be the first time that has happened, now would it?
HANK.

SO! Any of you Capt. Mal Reynolds (Firefly) fans catch his new show "Drive?" And if so, what do you think of it? My opinion, you better catch it quick, cuz I don't see this one lasting as long as Firefly did. The plot has more holes in it then all the cheese in Switzerland. If this lasts its first season I will be amazed. I'm a "car nut" so if I find it that bad I can only imagine what the average viewer must think. HANK.

Actually, I liked it a lot. I thought it has less plot holes than Lost, and move a heck of a lot faster too.

Trevor, the only thing moving slower then Lost is Battlestar Galactica. Oh, and maybe a turtle with arthritis. Plot Holes: Oh my God, where do I start? Let's see, if Mal/Tully wins this race, what does he get? The 32 million dollars or his wife? Or both? If the "someone" who is putting on this race wants him to win so damn bad why delay his ass for hours with the "got arrested by the cop" gag? Sure, he got a nice Dodge Challenger out of it, which beat the crap out of that old Ford pickup he started with. but the car would have to do 400 MPH to catch up with everyone like he did. And none of these people seem to have slept in how many days now? Tully drove from Nebraska to Key West, to Cape Canaveral, to Rome Georgia almost non stop.
One thing I found interesting is that the "MOM" with the baby in the mini van is suppose to be from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (just outside of Akron, for you folks not from around here) and she actually has an Ohio plate on the vehicle. Most shows screw up details like that.
This is like those "Fast and Furious" movies where in a quarter mile drag race the cars hit speeds in excess of 200 MPH yet the race takes 4 minutes of screen time and they are constantly shifting gears. What the hell are they driving, a 47 speed transmission?
Yeah, some of the cars are nice, the Challenger, and the Chevy the guy from prison has. But, I really don't see this show making it. It's on a Network, so that's one strike against it. I figure it will get pre empted for some reality show like "toe nail Clipping with the Stars" or something equally as dumb. HANK.

Well Hank. First of all, the show isn't about the cars. It is about the characters. The race is just a plot device used to tie them all together to tell us their stories and to see how they react to situations.
As for sleep, they slept at the Lighthouse place. Remember, they got there around dark. Spent the night. Then got the message in the morning about going ot Cape Canavaral. After the movie, I am sure they get another nights sleep.
Sure, there are plenty of holes, if you look for them. Same can be said for any show on TV. It's about what you choose to believe and what you choose to ignore.

Trevor...Got a question for ya. Maybe you have caught his name in the credits, but I have not spotted it as yet. The guy who plays the...I don't know what to call him, the "moderator" I guess... He was the one who told the two black ladies they were out of the race when they showed up a day late at the drive -in last night. ( I assume you caught the episode) Is that Charles Martin Smith??
I've been going "Damn, he looks familiar" where do I know him from? If he is who I think he is, he was Terry the Toad from the movie American Graffiti.
It's hard to read the credits when channel 8 scrolls all sorts of bullcrap across the bottom of the screen about a tornado warning a hundred miles away. I think that is one of the reasons I watch so little network television. Too many bullcrap interruptions! "We interrupt this program to bring you this important news bulletin!!! A possum was killed while trying to cross the street, we will brings you details at eleven on our regular "nosy news newscast", now back to our regular scheduled program already in progress" Meanwhile, you just missed an important/exciting part for some crap you don't give a damn about anyway.
As for Drive, well that has taken an interesting twist; Are the solder and his wife out of the race? I mean, they no longer have a phone with which to get clues. And is the black lady going to hitch hike her way thru the race? I love how these people take off from a "check point" hell bent for Lexington" with NOidea where they are headed. Maybe you should take time to figure out the clue before you drive hundreds of miles in the wrong direction. Oh well, no one ever said TV shows were logical. HANK.

He was also in the Untouchables, American Graffiti, Go Ask Alice, Buddy Holly, and one of his best movies: Never Cry Wolf. Way too many TV shows to mention. Kat

So! Does anyone know what happened with Drive? Has it been canceled already, or did they just move it to a different night and time? I didn't think it would last too long, but four episodes is a bit short. I tuned in tonight and got an episode of House instead. Now, I have seen a couple episodes of House and have mixed feelings about it. I like House's attitude, it's kinda like mine. "So many people to annoy, so little time" but the show is just too much medical mumbo jumbo to have a clue as to what the hell is going on. It's just some sick person with some arcane illness that occurs one time in a trillion, but they manage to figure it out and save him with an aspirin or some other very common treatment in the end. Too bad it doesn't work like that in the real world. HANK.

We've taken to watching Bloodties on the Lifetime network on Sundays. It's a vampire show similar to the Anita Blake books. PI meets vampire, PI likes vampire, PI works on strange cases with said Vampire, PI can't decide between old police partner and new Vampire.

does anyone watch the BBC channel? they have this new Robin Hood series. I haven't seen anything but the commercials but it looked awesome: numchuck throwing chicks, robin hood and merry man freaking out about being beat up, intrigue, evil dudes, etc...a nice twist on the original robin hood...or at least it looked it from the commercials. the funny part though: they chose to use irish guys for those of robin hood's crew that i could see, including him, and kept marion and all the rest of them english.
