Hi gang, it's me. The quiet one. I'm here now, sniffing around the corners like my cats do when I move.
Two opinions to share, then I'm DONE! One is that many people I know and love, (no, Morgan, I'm not picking on you) have felt un-heard by other Powers-That-Be on a similar message board, and thus stated, re-stated, stated again, and yet AGAIN, what their opinion was. And again, and again. I've done the same thing when I really really want to get through to someone. However, I have come to understand that if someone is pre-disposed to NOT hear me, they won't. And so to stop the gush of negative energy, I choose to stop, let go of it before it truly poisons me.
Second opinion - By the way this is a great outlet, and I thank you, Trevor, for doing this sometimes thank-less task. Then again, if I and others have thanked you, it isn't really thank-less, now is it? haha. Anyway, I have very mixed feelings about my summer entertainment this year, and will attend opening day before I decide whether to spend my SO hard-earned money on a season pass. I will use this outlet to remain in touch with those I care about on all sides of the fence. But I just really hope and pray that we can all find a balance between a fair expression of opinion, and hashing out negative energy over and over and over. That does nobody and nothing any good what-so-ever, and I choose to spread positive energy and light instead.
In service to my friends, and you know who you are, and are not, I remain... Hawise (aka Holly)

wow i was surprised by the email saying the board is down for good. I know none of you know me other than some posts last summer, but those boards were what got me hooked on the Faire in the first place and made me feel welcome. I'm glad this is still around so I can keep up-to-date with whats going on during faire season. I've been looking forward to next season since the last one ended. So thanks again Trevor for setting this up last year so I knew where to go now that the other one is gone for good!

That does nobody and nothing any good what-so-ever, and I choose to spread positive energy and light instead. I do think we will get to that point. It won't be right away. But what is done, is done. There will always be things that people don't like. I'm just hoping there will be more things that people will like to offset them.

I am sure the fun will return to both this board, and the faire itself. Once people settle in a bit, then the fun posts will start to show up. I'm sure Morgan will find some more insanely funny sites to post. Maybe we can even coax Penfold to start another thread of weirdness Once faire starts getting close again, the exitement and anticipation will slowly replace the trepidation felt now. Rehersals are right around the corner I belive Hopefully some of the new cast members will find their way here, so we can get to know them a bit. Then once faire actually starts, then the fun will really begin.

I was rather pleased to hear much of what was in the planning stages for upcoming faire season. There were/are some elements that I felt should be addressed. Some acts/shows that I will miss, some new talent that hopefully will fill voids. With some luck, diligence, tact and receptiveness maybe TBPB, the patrons, and those that hold sway on TPTB will share visions/ideas/plans and help make many of them become reality.

Yey Trevor on this site! We all need a place like this now. It'll be nice to say what you want, even tho I usually don't have much to say. I'm so mad tho! I finally go above Serf and now I start all over again! GAh! lol. But yeah, it sucks that the board was taken down. [Pout] ~Melissa

Sorry Trev...I know you want to be neutral about this...but...*sigh*... Where did I say I wanted to be neutral? No apologies needed. I have no problems with legitimate gripes. I just have to try and see both sides a little more now that there isn't another place for people to hang.

we were thinking about doing it the last time the boards went down but Trevor beat us to it. Thanks Trevor!! So at least we can still post about the wonderful zany antics of the Sword School... Tempest - looks like you have to make a new profile for Master Turk....
I'm with Black Knight. I thought it was great that we could still PM people on the other board but now my account is gone... I really don't think they gave enough time for us to tell everyone about this site - not all people get to check the internet 6 and 7 times a day. other people (not me) have real lives and stuff.
Oh and how are we supposed to tell you what threads we want to keep when they are all gone and we can't access them to tell you??
Three cheers for Sir Trevor who has saved the day Hip Hip Huzzah! Hip Hip Huzzah! Hip Hip Huzzah!

Yes, I was a bit shocked this morning. I started a new job and checked my email to view that this morning. I thought: "Oh, no! I won't be able to hear Morgan's complaining anymore!" t.hee, just kidding Morgan! And then I thought that I would never get to talk to any of you again! I was bummed. But then I remembered this board. Also, I'm just wondering, it's kinda weird...some UFTA members are listed as "Guest" on the other board...is that a computer glitch? If so, someone should let the webkeeper know...

LOL! No worries...I'd rather hope people don't look at it as "complaining"...because that, to me, indicates you are saying something that you aren't willing to help advance or move along...You complain about the weather, but there is nothing you can do about it...I would like to think, as an avid Faire Fan and a person who invests time and $$ in the Faire...there is something I can do to help it along...Now...contrary to popular belief...I have "talked up" this Faire to many folks and I have had people from Sterling come here last year and absolutely fall in love with GLMF (and who are arranging their schedule to come this year)...and, (as I do view this as my Home Faire)...I take pride in it...and it's because of that PRIDE I do take in GLMF, that I am concerned...as much as anyone would be when they have convinced someone to take time and $$ to travel from NY to OH to experience YOUR Home Faire...
Complaining? Maybe perceived by some...but as I pointed out...this is so much more than what Acts are coming back and if "I" like them or not...in light of world events...what a bunch of self-centered gits we would be if that were all it was about...so...it lies deeper...and that is...how folks are treated, in Cast, Crew and that extends to Patrons...don't treat me like an idiot who will shell money out without asking questions...For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction...Fact of Life, and I resent those who walk around with "wounded egos" as if we were calling into question their loyalty...because what I have seen is...they haven't done anything to stop, circumvent or answer truthfully with "I don't know yet...but I will find out and get back to you"...A fair and just answer that indicates you are at least paying attention to me...
Negative? Maybe…concerned AND proud…you bet…<br>

..Now...contrary to popular belief...I have "talked up" this Faire to many folks and I have had people from Sterling come here last year and absolutely fall in love with GLMF (and who are arranging their schedule to come this year)...and, (as I do view this as my Home Faire)...I take pride in it...and it's because of that PRIDE I do take in GLMF, that I am concerned... That is so true. I think that is the case with a lot of us. We complain to the faire, but we brag about it to others. We tend to keep our troubles "in the family" so to speak. We only open our mouths because we care enough to point out what we oercieve as problems, and usaully possible solutions. That in my book is not negative. That is caring.
