So Trevor, how's the basement? If you got half the rain we did you might have an indoor swimming pool, or did the snake job solve that for you? Hope so. We got so damn much rain I have ducks swimming around my front yard. No joke, honest to God. The workshop garage flooded under the lift, the office flooded as well as the "lunch room" garage. Spent much of the day with the wet/dry vac and a mop dealing with the situation. I guess if you had any roof leaks you know about them now don't you?
Last night was a Bitch! Not as bad as what they got in the Carolina's, but more rain then I needed that's for sure.

We got rain early in the week, but nothing torrential. Basement is fine. Sump pump is doing it's job. Though there is still some water coming in on the other side of the basement. Thankfully that runs straight to the floor drain though. I will have to investigate the situation eventually. It's on the side of the house with the driveway, so not sure why it's coming in there, unless it has something to do with the window right there.

Nice shelf, keep this up and we'll be seeing you on "This Old House" one of these days. Got a nice organized place to work> I should do something like that one of these days. I have spray cans EVERYWHERE, in a metal cabinet, cardboard boxes, on wood stools, you name it. If I weren't so damn busy trying to fix all these cars I might get organized one of these days. Got the Impala all done so now I need to look at the brakes on the Sonoma to see why the work like crap. The fun never ends.

I hear you about getting organized. I'm still trying to sort everything out from the move and find a home for everything where I might actually be able to find it. Of course, when I went to finally start working on building my workbench last night, I couldn't find my casters. I bought them a few months ago, just for this bench, so I can move it around if need be. But now I cannot find hide-nor-hair of them. And without the casters, I can't cut the legs. Don't know how long to cut them, because I don't know how tall the casters are.

Well, ya could always buy a new set,cuz 15 minutes after ya get home with them you will find the original one, always seems to work for me LOL! Every time I buy a new tool I find the one I lost. I own a LOT of half inch sockets.

I completely agree with that. Every time I buy a replacement, I find the original.
For now I have a new project to keep me busy for a bit. We finally bought the handles for the kitchen cupboards. List night I started work on the jig for drilling all the holes. Today I will get the wife to decide just where she wants them placed so I can finish the jig and get started on installing them. Maybe in the process I will stumble across my casters.

I told ya about my friend in the "cars suck" thread who was looking for a pentagon wrench to remove his wheel speed sensor. Well he found one online for 8 bucks and change, but get this, they wanted 10 bucks for shipping. This is just a goofy shaped allen wrench, you could probably drop it in an envelope and put a stamp on it. So he found another one for nine something with FREE shipping. You probably order a lot of shit online, do you encounter this nonsense? Shipping rates seem to be whatever they think they can get away with. Most of my online shopping is from Rockauto and their shipping rates seem to be fair considering the size and weight of some of the stuff, not to mention some of it is coming from clear across the country.
P.S. glad ya found your casters.

Yeah. Shipping costs are all over the place, depending on where you order from. I always figure up total price, and go with what is best.

Well, now we aren't working on this house, we are working on the old house. Painting and sprucing things up. Hopefully that will help it sell. Really need to get rid of that place and the expenses. Two days to paint 3 rooms

I am soooooo tired of painting. We now have 4 rooms repainted at the old house. This last one took 3 coats. What a pain. Still one more to go, as well as some work in the kitchen, and a lot of work in the bathroom.

Well now that the car repairs are out of the way I'm guessing you're back on repairs at your old house. How's that coming? I never got all this painting everyone does to make the house look "nice" cuz the first thing the new buyer does is repaint everything you just painted cuz no matter what color YOU make it they will think it's hideous and repaint it to there liking. So all your work was just a waste of time, money, and effort. Don't know if the previous owner of your "NEW" house painted but it sat on the market for years from what you said and what did you do, ya ripped out everything and repainted it! Do the smart thing, lower the price and dump it cuz paying property tax on both places will kill ya.

Problem is, I can't really lower the price. Between what we owe on it to pay it off, and realtor commission, right now, we would only end up a couple thousand ahead. And that is before any closing costs I have to pay. (not sure about that, as I have never sold a house) About all I really have left over there is to paint one more room, then replace the bathtub. Then when the weather breaks I have to replace some shingles on the back side of the roof.
I just haven't been over there doing everything. That week I was driving on the broken control arm, I didn't go over. I wasn't going anywhere other than work and back.
As far as us repainting everything here, that is mainly because is was painted wallpaper, and the wallpaper was falling down. If the wallpaper hadn't been hanging loose, some of the rooms would have stayed the color they were. And yeah, someone painted here. Not sure if they were living here, or trying to 'fix it up' as one of the old realtor listings showed it still had the wallpaper when it sold in 2011. When it was listed again in 2015 all the wallpaper had been painted. Which is sad, because most of the wallpaper looked pretty nice.

So how is the "old" house coming along? I should think you're done with the painting by now, but you had other stuff to do like fix the roof or something? Good luck with it. Between your actual job, fixing two houses and doing car repair you probably need a 48 hour day just to get some sleep once in awhile.
