All in all it was an enjoyable weekend. First weekend is always about saying hello to old friends. The weather was great. I did have to peel clothes late Sunday. Rhonda helped me out with that. Thank you, Rhonda. (Also, thank you Hank for helping me dress in the parking lot.) I saw a few acts. Very well done. Still have to see the Joust and Foolhardy. The Chess Match was very good. Very entertaining. The cast: You guys rock? You all must be very tired after running around the Shire in all that garb and having to stay in character. Thank you Pickle Grove for keeping me hydrated. (Don't forget their donations.) The "Kids" area doesn't really bother me. I agree with Trevor about location and such. (Brit, lovely dress on Sunday.) Didn't really get a chance to see the King and Queen interact with the street patrons. I did sit and visit with Dave (Merlin) for a bit. He does interact with the people. I know DameGoode is not on cast but she is always interacting with the patrons. It was fun to watch her with couples holding hands. She also is very good with getting the little ones to talk. (We still have to officially meet. I see you all the time and have not stopped you yet to say hello.) I like the new map. I guess that's it for me. I had a nice weekend and am looking forward to next weekend.

Oh yeah, I did forget to mention the cast didin't I You all rocked! Great energy. Some really good bits. I saw a lot of you doing things that were getting the attention of patrons, and also directly interacting with them. My comments about the royal court earlier were just my reasoning behind why some might say they are hard to approach. I didn't have that issue personally, and I knew none of the regulars would either. I look forward to interacting with more of the new members this coming weekend. (I alway let them be to find their legs the first weekend. After that, they are fair game ) I know I saw some very tired faces at Sunday's pub sing. The cast worked very hard all weekend, and I could tell the new ones were not used to pacing themselves for what really is a long haul. All part of the learning experience. And I am still amazed at the energy Jinxy has. She is like the Energizer Bunny. She never seems to wind down.

Hey, we got it down folks. I am not saying we shouldn't try and keep people happy, or improve what we have, but we need to also take a moment to have pride in what we accomplished. All I saw were smiles and happy people. We did what we set out to do. Now we just need to keep working and tweaking. I had a great time. It was an experience that I don't think I have anythign to compare it to. thanks to you cast and friends. And keep an eye out for Sir Gawain, cause he's a creeper. He will sneak in, woo your woman, and be gone with her before you feel your hand getting cold...

I am so glad to hear that you guys don't think the royal court is mean or anything. It makes me smile^.^
But yes, we have one event to be at right after the other until after Joust, so we will be together, but we do try and split up for a bit. ^.^

Just stopped by to acquaint myself with pictures of the cast and thought I'd drop a line. As Trevor said previous...it's hard to imagine Mitch and Patti not being there this year and I think walking into the faire past the booth will be a task for me in itself....luckily I'll have people to hold my hand and give me tissues.
My first season as a patron (ever) and I'm looking forward to wandering all day. After 10+ years of working, I'm delighted to be able to roam with all my friends.
See you all soon=)
And Hawise! Dinner! Soon!

Was the Coppersmith there? Hey Jim; I was talking to Bonnie on Myspace last week and she said they were going to be there this year. Can't wait to see them again, as well as everyone else too.

Then there was a bit of a sad moment. About the time we got up to first aid, it really hit us. No Mitch I mean, we knew that since last season, but the reality just took a few moments to absorb. The new people seem nice enough, but we didn't really stop to visit, just an observation from some of our passes by there (we couldn't bring ourselves to sit by the pond this weekend, but we will eventually) I saw them a few times trying to mingle with the crowds walking by and swing some traffic into the booth. Not sure how well things went, but I think they did ok. It was nice to still hear Micheal's music coming from the pond area as well. Thanks to you and Wynter both for your nice comments about Griffins. We are missing everyone sooo much. It just doesn't seem right somehow. I can hardly wait for our visit with you all in August. Too bad it will be only one weekend, but mundane life is very predictable. Certainly not what we are used to. We are hoping that we get to see all of you when we get there. If not, hugs to all we miss. Nice talking to Bunnie on the phone last month. "Hi Bunnie & Hank." Mitch & Patti

To all who come out to opening w/e of the faire. Thank you for making it a great opening! All your feedback and suggestions are welcome. We strive for perfection. Some things you may not know; I only had 4 weeks to put the Combat Chessmatch together. Its success is a testiment to the hard work and dedication of the cast. I could not be more proud of them.

First weekend thoughts: Elysieum was good (I was stuck in a booth across the lanes for alot of Sat so I heard them frequently) Wonderfool was OK The Mudd Show (Shakespeare) was only funny if you have read all of those plays which I have. There wasnt a whole lot of mud being flung though. Not so humorous for the average citizen. Chess Match rocked! I missed the beginning. Not a lot of comedy in it tho which I miss. But fights were good. Fool Hearty's fool's school was funny as ever Had a hard time finding the contests which is where the old jail was. The program didn't list the first weekends contests and themes so I was confused as to which contest it was supposed to be. Speaking of programs: yuck! The cast, vendors, and food wasn't listed which I think is imporatant. And the map I had was blurry and I couldn't read it. It's a shame Jean-Paul did all that work and I couldn't read the blasted thing. I also agree that the ticket takers should pass them out not the ticket sellers. I had a pass and went into the gate only to come right back out to get one. Broon - hilarious as always. Maidens IV, Barret, Porter & Stout - beautiful The joust was horrible. No lists, no shattering lances, no microphones, no explanations for the newbies, no engergy. I hate to say it but it was better when it was WWF style. I have no problem with a gaming joust if its listed in the program, but when I stick around the hot and humid faire to show my newbie friends some contact jousting at the end of the day and I get some rings and a few lance passes - well I was just disappointed.
Gee I wish I had sword school to occupy my time. Maybe when I come back things will be better - as stated in a previous post was feeling poorly this weekend.
I don't like Parting glass either. The cast sang it well but I just wasn't into it. Maybe we could finish with Lizzie singing the Irish blessing.

"No one seemed to know when the day had actually ended." Thats because it didnt, everyone just had to "temporarily" leave and comeback the next weekend, see it will go off on the last weekend last day of faire, until then you'll just have to keep on coming back and enjoy our company again! Lovely sentiment, but doesn't help when you don't know when to start packing up and bring in the vehicles.

I have been to so many faires/festivals in so many states and I get to watch the cast interact and the crafters and entertainers and regulars all bond and I must say that this festival has more love in it than any other I've seen yet.
The cast is the most energetic and entertaining that I have ever seen this year!
Pubsing... I think it just needs a little time to settle in... it was a bit... uhm... messy? It just needs some love and some time.
The crowds this first weekend rocked.
I couldn't be happier with any festival than I am this one.
I AM a little late getting my comments in here, I just really wanted to share how happy I am to be home at this festival.
See you next weekend, friends.
