As to the gold lame question, are you asking me to name names?
Gentle Isolde, pitchforks were used for farm work. It was the technology to the age, for heaven's sake. Look at the old paintings. (Les Tres Riche Heures is a good one.) You try to pitch hay with a straight stick or shovel. Not good.

Hello all. In my early years of faire I would wear 12th century japanese garb. hey medieval Japan existed annd there were travelers. I did see the trekkies and lost it. I rather enjoy seeing the anime costumes. people worked hard to put them together and they want to show them off. having fun is what our faire is about, and beautifully everyone is accepted in our shire.
thanks to all Bob
p.s. I would die to see a stormtrooper running around as long as he was not too short.

Clarification, Bob. YOUR 12 century Japenese garb was nice. Very attractive and was from roughly the real time period we were aiming for.
(But I still think you look nice in your noble gear..)

The Duke stated; "I would die to see a stormtrooper running around as long as he was not too short."
Well if we had a dwarf dressed that way would he be a "Squaltrooper?" He would be too small to be a full fledged storm. At least I would think so.

and DameGoode, I would never expect you to name names. I may be on that list (or worse, off it)

Farren, Sure there must have been vampire hunters after all Vlad Dracul (aka Vlad the Impaler later called Dracula was around in Romania) hunt away. PersonallyI don't care what you show up as although anime isn't exactly medieval Japan did have a medieval time period. Just have a good time. The only thing I really care about is that cast stay true to the period and the faire remains up and running. It just wouldn't be summer without it.| Sue

I guess the bottom line is as long as the person wearing the garb is comfortable wearing it and having fun doing so...Cool I love seeing the imagination and all the costumes... Yes even the stuff from halloween stores. As long as its Fun!!!!

*slinkng out of the lurking shadows*Duke - I couldn't agree with you more! I've seen little kids attend Faire in armour made out of cardboard boxes. In fact...now that I think about it...I've seen ADULTS attend Faire in armour made of cardboard...or even aluminum foil! LOL! Who am I to ruin a kid's fantasy (or an adult's for that matter)? As for the adults...well...we "adults" are all just little kids stuck inside our adult bodies - that's why we come to Faire!!! And on to GLMF Theme weekends: I wouldn't personally call "Roman Holiday" weekend very medieval...and I quote from the official GLMF website: "Wine, Romans and Togas! Togas! Togas!" Last time I checked, Togas were a formal dress robe used by the Etruscans and were only worn by men, not women. The toga was later adopted by the Romans and Greeks...but still much earlier than Medieval times. In the Medieval era the Romans were mostly wearing plain old woolen tunics - not togas. Oh - and not to mention "Medieval Fantasy Weekend" for: "Fairies, Unicorns and Men of Steel" Face it, my friends - GLMF is a Medieval FANTASY Faire. I take that to mean pretty much anything goes. So...Anime, you ask?? I say "Yes!" even if it's not personally my bag, baby. We got some great photos of some of those characters this year! (not to mention last year my step-son had a LINK costume as his Faire garb and had a great time with it!)

Yeah, if you're having a good time and not being obnoxious who cares what you come dressed as. I saw the guy and girl dressed as ICHIOO KUROSAKI, and NEKKOYASHA. (see photos in reply #1) and really had no damn clue what they were suppose to be. I thought the girl was trying to be a modest Playboy Bunny, the ears confused me. And the guy was a character from some book I never read.
We also seem to have some young lady who comes every year wearing silver body paint, I have no idea who/what see is suppose to be either. But, so what?
I remember a guy from about four or five years back who came wearing a suit of chain Armour made from pop/beer can pull tabs. The OLD kind the pulled entirely off the can, not the kind we have now that just fold the tab inside the can.
I had to admire all the work that went into weaving them all together, not to mention all the beer he must have had to drink to get that many tabs in the first place.
I never saw him back at faire again. probably died of Cirrhosis of the liver.
HANK.

I agree fun is the goal here...and as I've said I'd rather see anime than plain clothes.(no offense to the plain clothes people-come in garb it changes everything)As to the drow I think she's wonderful very well done....I do wonder if she is Nathyera from NWN.To any who is not a D&D geek a drow is a dark elf ,usually evil, but hot

Hank, The young lady with the ears is my neice and she is all about anything Japaneseand I don't think she has ever held a Playboy magazine. And now you have me wondering if playboy and modesty have ever gone together. Having never even had the slightest desire to read the magazine, and Bill assures me he got the magazine solely for it's articles, I don't really know how modest the girls are. Sue
