Yes !!!!! REALLY... Medievel Japan. ( And those of you who love Anime know exactly what I mean !!! ...) I saw these wonderful Characters at GLMF:
"Shesshomaru"--- The hugely powerful Demon from the series "Iniyasha", complete with armor, long silver hair, facial tattoos and white fur-piece!
"Ichioo Kurosaki"--- from the series "Bleach"
"Link"--- the famous mute, in his cool green outfit complete with tall, pointed elf-ears, long pointed hat and his sword.
And...
"Nekkoyasha"--- (the Cat-Demon) not officially from an Anime series, BUT probably a relative of "Iniyasha". ( the Dog-Demon) She was dressed in red satin with white fur tail and white cat-ears. (Adorable !)
---I LOVED SEEING THESE CREATIVE & UNUSUAL CHARACTERS !!!

I'm going to politely disagree here.
I don't show up dressed as a pirate at their events and conventions. I only ask they keep to h established theme of the event they arrive at. I love seeing folks dressed up. I love seeing folks do their anime madness, but I don't love seeing it at this venue.

I'm anime freaky. I like to dress up as anime characters too. If you like to known I was the one who dress up as Ichigo and captain of squad 13 from the anime series Bleach, Cloud from Final Fantasy 7, Link from Zelda, and Lord Sesshormaru from the anime series Inuyasha. I've spent over an year making these outfits. 4 out of 8 outfits worked, the four that worked are CLOUD, SESSHORMARU, ICHIGO IN BANKAI FORM AND LINK. I don' think it matters what dress up like as long you are having fun. Besides I've many other anime character at GLMF three Links red, blue, and green, Nekuyasha the beauitful cat demon, and Xemas from KINGDOM HEARTS II. But my ULTIMATE CHARACTER will always be Captain Black Fabian Fox the Sly Pirate. ;D Thanks you mother countessofmidnight ;D

I love seeing folks dressed up. I love seeing folks do their anime madness, but I don't love seeing it at this venue. While I respect your personal opinion, I myself disagree. As paying customers, we can pretty much show up in anything we want to, as long as it isn't indecent. To those who care about accuracy, most who come garbed to faire are an abomination. As long as we aren't flooded with a bunch of 'out of place' costums, I enjoy seeing them. I remember a few years ago, someone came in an awesom samuri costum. It was beautiful. No where near appropriate for our venue. But magnificent to behold none-the-less. Our faire is also firmly planted in the 'fantasy' end of the faire spectrum. We have had fairies, gnomes, ogres, pookas, gypsies, pirates, Ghengis Khan, and tons of other 'out of place' characters on cast. Just this season, we had cast members dressed as Greek gods. I think it is all a good thing. It adds to the fantasy, not detracts from it. It helps make our faire open and inviting to others. Which is one of the reasons we are fast becoming a destination faire for many on the ren circuit. I would rather see a well done anime costume than someone wearing a T-shirt, jeans, and a big sword on thier back. Anyway. An interesting discussion. And I look forward to hearing others opinions on the subject.

Well Trev, you know me, I'm pretty laid back on that kinda stuff. I really don't give a damn what you come dressed as as long as you are having fun. I would love to see more great looking women come dressed as Lady Godiva! Hey, she was medieval, right? But I must say to Captainblackfabian. da ya think you could post a picture of those characters you spoke of, Cloud, link, etc. cuz I don't have a damn clue what you are talking about. For me, Japanese anime is just third rate cartoons and I try to avoid watching them at all costs. HANK.

I hafta' say I to rather see Japanamation at faire than normies,as to historic accuracy I don't believe my style of kilt was invented until th 1700's,but it's dam comfortable a gift from my family and some of the ladies seem to like it so I'm gonna stick with it.

I'm the last guy that is gonna cry "historic accuracy" most of us are too modern for a "medieval" setting, we all know that. And for the most part we are going o make concessions to modern conveniences like rubber soles, cap rivets, metal plating and what not.
I don't even mind the occasional samurai as it is at least a historic costume. the faerie thing was long ago established as the norm here and it at least ties to the myths of england.
Anime costuming however, makes about as much sense as showing up dressed as Superman.

I agree with blueguy, it doesn't make sense at all. But, we're not going to kick anyone out becuase they're not dressed medieval. GLMF is definitely not the SCA, yes we want accuracy but we're not anal about it. Just come and have fun. If you come to GLMF and have a blast, then we're doing our job, and that's all that matters.

Dears---Thank you for your responses ( I truly mean that...) ...YES, I realize that "Japanese Anime" costumes IS STRETCHING things a BIT...But, the creativity WAS fun. PERHAPS, that's what I liked... AND---I WOULD NOT like to see the GLMF turn into an "Anime Thing"---EITHER !!!! ( I just enjoyed seeing something different...)

I make anime outfits because it fun for me and I only make ones that fit medieval times like LINK or Feudal area Japan of demons and samuria's. I'll amit that Cloud isn't medieval character, but when I look at the pictures of Cloud it look like an dark warrior to me. YES, I do known how goes at the GLMF when people work there. I know the rules to it. I too was going to work for the GLMF, but I changed my mind. We don't all have to be traditional. Everyone's different and I do get recoginize by somepeople because they like my outfits. When people like my outfits, that makes feel proud and happy. That's why I dress anime.Besides I only follow medieval stlye. I don't do any future characters. I don't have any pictures of Cloud or LINK yet. I'll try to get some soon bunbun/hank.

I wouldnt dream of wearing a Stromtrooper outfit........... Actually, I heard from others that some faires tend to get invaded by quite a few Klingons. And one year here, we had a Darth Vader-ish kind of guy wandering around.
