The list of acts on the GLMF message board that have agreed to contracts is not accurate.
Some of these people might actually be contracted, but I know for a fact that several of those persons he says he talked to weren't.
In fact, I believe he didn't want to contract Judy Pleister for 3 weekends if Owain weren't there for her to play with. Maybe I'm wrong.
But I do know that Bardic Wind hasn't been in negotiations. Their decision is pretty final.
Don't believe what Brook is saying.
In fact, Morgan knows that Owain hasn't been conctracted yet, although Brook says he has.
Ask me specific questions, because there is too much to write in one posting in any intelligible form.
Talk to you all later, Papa

As a matter of fact I recieved an email from Cameron of Bardic Wind this morning. We are still negotiating. Owain, Judy and Rio all agreed to return as of last weekend of faire. I said those are the people who have agreed to a conract. No contracts have gone out because a final contract has yet to be approved by Larry. Get your facts straight. No one knows all the answers.

Hello Brook. Welcome.
Feel free to post as much or as little as you like here.
That's what it is here for. To keep some of this and other fun off the official board.

No one may know all the answers, but some people think they do.
Cameron of Bardic Wind has said himself that they will will not do a faire where they will lose money. I do not see them doing the faire unless they are offered what they can afford. Not to mention a decent stage at decent times. Last year they were playing the Excalibur during the parade!
There are indeed two sides to every story. Propaganda, and the truth.

I wonder, since Ontario is closing, if the Tartan Terrors will be able to come down to GLMF since there was a date conflict before.

no one may know all the answers, but some people SHOULD know more than others.

True, but those people are not who you think they are.

One thing that I would wish for would be for a Middle East dance act.
Saw one out in Arizona and it was TOTALLy AWESOME. They shared the same stage with Owain Phyfe.
Also at the MRF they had one which was great because they explained about the individuale dances and the moves meant in telling the story for the music. Wonderfull
Also drums...drums...drums.....

Agreed! We had a really awesome vendor about two years back that sold drums and the likes. They would sit out on the lanes and play. It added so much to the atmosphere and I also apprechiated it being a gypsy and all ;D
I've missed them ever since.

at MRF - the drums were great, the dancers cool, but the lady that played the oboe thing only knew one song. I was only there for one weekend but one of the entertainers mentioned it. i can only imagine hearing that all day for two days for a 6 week run. he said you will hear that song in your sleep at night.

Kinda like hearing Scotland Rising playing the same songs over and over again in 2003.

But the oboe lady can probably play in tune! Better to know only one song and play it in tune, than several songs and none of them in tune. ("Amazing Grace" out of tune is a travesty, especially when you must listen it several times a day!)

Though I wasn't there to see it, I'm willing to bet oboe instument was a shawm. Not to disgrace my good name on these boards, but I'm a oboist and music major so I also learned to play the shawm. There's a reason it was an outside military instument. ~
