Next time you make mashed potatoes, cut back on the butter, and add some horseradish sauce. Does AMAZING things for it!

Okay Kids, Here is the crumb cake recipe; Makes 16 squares, pre heat oven to 350 degrees For the cake: 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 stick unsalted butter 3/4 cup sugar 2 large eggs 1teaspoon vanilla 1/4 cup buttermilk 2 1/2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen, thawed) Whisk flour, balking powder and salt together in a bowl. With a mixer, cream butter and sugar in another bowl until pale and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Working in alternate batches, add flour mixture and buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat until just combined. Pour into greased and floured 9 inch square pan and smooth. Spread berries evenly on top. For the topping: 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted 3/4 cup all purpouse flour 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon Stir together topping ingredients and sprinkle over berries. OKay Friends and Family, Some of you already know that my Dad has been sick for some time. He has just enough energy (breath) to take care of his basic needs. I need some help. I need recipes that freeze nicely in single portions and then can be nuked. My Dad is not getting any better and I need to make sure he is eating. He tends to eat sandwiches or go out.
He has very basic taste buds. (He is Irish.) Only meat and potatoes/french fries. Absolutely no veggies, no heavy seasoning or better yet, no seasoning, no tomatoe based sauces or weird sauces, no cheeses. He does well with gravies.
Now the tricky part: I don't want to spend my whole day cooking large meals.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kat

Wow, Kat, I'm going to have to think about this. That's some serious limits there, and potatoes.....excepting the ones bought commercially, ( French Fries, Hash Browns, etc. ) DO NOT freeze well. Gravies freeze just fine.
You might start with something like commercially frozen mashed potatoes, add meat ( Ground beef or chunks of cooked roast ) and freeze that. Does he do rice? That freezes well with or without gravy.
Yeah, gonna have to think on that. Let me get back to you..................
Oh, the potato thing............they'll be fine if you've cooked them up in a soup or stew. How does he do with things like that? And chicken? Or just red meat?

Dill, I'm in the mood, or craving is a better word for comfort food- like um your Creamy Garlic Potatoes.
That would compliment crab cakes.

I have never met such a picky Irishman before! No rice :-( I thought about cubed ham with those frozen breakfast potatoes, might work. He does eat bland chicken with potatoes/fries. I can make a stew for the house and take out all veggies for his. He eats ham, devil's ham, hamburger, roasts, a nice piece of fish. My Dad has not had a vegetable, salad, heavy seasoning or water in his life. This is a true statement.
