Well had some venison given to us this week and am going to give it a try. Defrosting a roast right now and then going to do a marinade. Not sure what I'll use but as of now it's Italian dressing Worcester sauce and of course beer along with seasonings. Fingers crossed.

Hep, here's the bread recipe as requested. This is so simple it's not funny, really versatile, and REALLY good!!!
1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed and risen according to directions on package.
Spread the dough out flat to cover an average sized cookie sheet..........and make sure the sheet is well greased!
Lightly butter the dough.
cover the dough with plenty of shredded chees and whatever else you please. Roll up like a jelly roll, seal ends by tucking them under, bake at 350 until well browned. Let it get a touch darker than if you were just making plain bread or the middle won't be quite done. Rub butter on hot crust to keep it from getting too hard.
Now, as to fillings, try any of the following or experiment with your own combos.
Cheddar, bacon bits, sliced green olives if you like them. Cheddar, chopped, cooked broccoli Cheddar or provolone and fresh spinach Provolone and pepperoni....add a bit of THICK pizza sauce if you want. Cheddar and sliced ham Swiss and sliced roast beef Taco cheese blend and cooked ground beef...add a bit of olive, sun dried tomatoes, hot pepper, etc. to this one Cheddar and hot peppers Several kinds of cheese Cheddar, olives and sun dried tomatoes Extra butter and fresh herbs... a mild cheese works well with this also Or sweet................ brown sugar, cinnamon, a bit of butter...add dried apples, walnuts, raisins etc. to this Dried fruit, honey, nutmeg
I think you get the idea! ;D
Have fun!

Well, thank you, darlin', I'm glad you like them so much, but that was a totally different recipe than the nut rolls! ;D The ones I showed you are more of a nut pastry, while the above recipe is similar to cinnamon rolls, or sticky buns ( always loved that name! ) Instead of rolling the filling up in crescent rolls, you use biscuit dough, and simply pour the goodies on top. A lot simpler......though both are fabulous!

Okay since we aren't making it to 12th night this year the one thing both John and I will be missing is the soup bowls. What I'm looking for is a hearty cheese broccoli. Tried a few soup recipes and they are very weak. Not going healthy here. Looking for some good old food. Grandma's stuff.

Okay, Hep.....this is quite simple but deadly rich. Quick, too.
Cook chopped broccoli in chicken broth until done to taste. Also according to taste, add red peppers ( mild ), onions, mushrooms.
After broccoli is done, you can do one of two things.
1. Add several pints of heavy cream to the broccoli and broth, stir in as much sharp cheddar cheese as desired, serve.
Or, 2......this will be a thicker, creamier version..........bring 6-8 cups whole milk, 1 stick butter, and black or white pepper to taste, just to a low boil, thicken with flour or cornstarch, and add sharp cheddar to taste. When thickened and cheese is melted, add DRAINED veggies and serve.
(This is basiclly a Bechamel sauce with cheese, and can also be poured over cooked macaroni and baked for a killer homeade style macaroni and cheese.)
I love cheese, so I load mine up.........taste as you add until it's where you want it. Also, for even more cheese, stir in cut up cubes just befor serving. Garnish with crumbled bacon if desired.
As I said, NOT a health food, but perfect every once in a while when you need to indulge.
Oh! Too, you can add either cooked chicken or cubed ham to it. The ham is especially good.
Hope this helps!
