My only suggestion is if you have kids that small is hire a babysitter and leave them at home. I have a few comments and I'm sure, with some, they will not be popular. First: Wow, I understand that the faire is not responsible for for entertaining the kids but do you really want to limit who comes to the faire? Some people actually like spending time with their family and comments like that can definitely alienate parents with younger children. Second: I feel people can love the cast while not liking the choices being made about the acts at the faire. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and more than one person is upset over the choices being made. The faire fanatics cannot keep the faire open by themselves. If you could you could close it to the public and not give anyone else an opinion. Third: I love the faire but I HATE bad customer service. No one owes the faire anything. People pay to be entertained and when they are not entertained they will stop coming. So if you want the faire to close, keep ignoring the customers that are not fanatics. You won't be able to blame the weather for bad turnouts. Well said sir. Sometimes I think people that are really close to the faire, and the inner workings loose a little perspective. We are going to come, regardless of what acts are there. We find ways to have fun, no matter who attends. But in order for the faire to survive and thrive, it needs the general public to want to come. To bring the family, eat some meals, watch some shows, do some shopping, and play some games. Those are the people that put money in the pockets of the faire, the performers, and the vendors. People with small children are really challenged when it comes to finding good wholesome ways to entertain their kids, where they can have fun too. The faire has made great progress over the years to improve things for children of all ages. And I hope this year will not be a step back. I don't know enough yet about who is going to be there, and who isn't to be able to say one way or the other. While it may be bad that we lost a kid friendly performer. We don't know yet if they will find someone equally as well recieved. I remember hearing the same refrains when they didn't ask Isaac Fawlkes back several years ago. He was a great children's entertainer also. Plus he was pretty funny at Pub Sing. But the fiare survived, and found other entertainers to keep the kids occupied And Richard brings up some very good points as well. The entertainment budget is not unlimited. Honestly, I don't know how they brought in so many acts the past few years as it was. But when money is tight, some things end up having to be sacrificed. No one likes it. Not the performers, not the patrons, and certainly not the management. But you have to do what you have to do to end up in the black at the end of the run.

OK as a mom of a 4 year old and 8 year old I would like to put in my 2 cents. Yes it is sad that Thom Bedlam and Spritz are not on the list of entertainment. My daughters adored both shows. They also loved Porter and Stout and although they are not playing together (from what I currently understand), they will be back, HUZZAH! We don't know the cast personally but they really make it all come alive for little kids. So it's not just for those in cliques. Let's remember that it's only May and faire has not started yet. They are still posting their entertainment schedule. I just read about 2 new shows for children that look like something my kids will love! Faire, like anything else you do in life, is what you make of it. I personally believe that this is still a family oriented event and my kids will enjoy it a heck of a lot more than some overstimulating place like Disneyworld or any other amusement park.

Sir Michael,
I agree with you completely. My daughter has grown up at the faire and I have always thought there was plenty for her to do. I have had my season tickets since the beginning of the year and I will be there every possible weekend I can get out but I am a fan (short for fanatic) of the faire (I would go if they only sold Miller Lite and played a CD of Axel).
Fans are the bread that make up the sandwich we call the faire but the meat is all the other customers that come out. They come for many reasons and their opinions should be heard. Not every request should or can be acted on for whatever reason but opinions should not be stifled.
Customer Opinions - Listen to them. Implement the ideas you can, acknowledge the ones you can't but explain why. Some customers can even be completely dismissed but do not wonder why you lost that customer.
PS: Sorry about the sandwich analogy. Its lunch time and I'm am late for lunch.

[youtube] Friends of the GLMF, I am happy to announce that I will be returning this year. I will not be your King, when we decided to switch to King Richard last year I opted to do my one man comedy stage show; Hopeless Romantics.
Please come see my version of Romeo & Juliet, and Adam & Eve. I regret due to budget cuts I will not be directing the Combat Chessmatch this year. The show must go on and two of my fighters have picked up the gauntlet and I am confident will produce a great show.
Your support over the past two years has been fantastic and I am looking forward to entertaining you all over again as my alter ego Guido Libido. www.hopelessromanticsentertainment.com/guido-libido.html www.youtube.com/watch?v=RabJLBgqNNI

Larry, I really enjoyed the video. Not at all what I expected. Someone else told me about your show, but, they way they explained it, I thought there would be a cast with you. Like maybe 2 other people. This looks like it will be so much fun. And yes, I would say it is "family friendly."

Wonder when they are going to update the "Entertainment" page on the GLMF Site so people checking the Faire out can get appropriately excited by the fact that Owain will be at Faire for the entire run AND Menagerie is back!!! Oh and that Richard (AKA Captain John Stout) and "The Plunder Doggs" will be roaming around Faire as well!
