I only learned of this sad news when I arrived at faire this year. I didn't know Steph personally except for the couple of times she strolled up to the leather mug booth a couple of years ago. But each time she came by, she had this gentle demeanor about her, and always smiling. Her smile made me smile.
How bittersweet, yet, precious is the love for her expressed here by her - by our GLMF family. It's this same love that binds us all together in this life and the next.
I'm sad for the loss of our young Pickle Goddess, but glad that it was her passing that has propted the implementation of the Memorial Gardens project. What says Family Love better than to create a beautiful place where we can go to recall special memories of our beloved Faire family, which keeps them alwas at faire with us? A place where we all can know that when we go to meet Steph and the others, we too, will be remembered and brought back to be with our beloved "family" each year, in spirit. I don't know of any other faire where the bond and the love for one another is any greater!
I love you all, as I'm sure Steph did, as well.

Thank you. Steph did indeed consider Great Lakes 'home', and the Faire Folk her family. She would have agreed with you wholeheartedly.

For all...
I live about 3/4 of a mile from the cemetery where Stephanie is.. I stopped by after Faire this evening to drop off a rose for her..
Although technically, this Thursday is the anniversary of her death, some of us are considering the Saturday of final weekend to be appropriate as well.
As such, next Saturday, I will stop by the cemetery on my way home, and will drop off any roses or other flowers that any of you would like to send. If you would like to, catch me at Pub Sing, or close to the end of the day. (Oh, and if anyone has a basket I could borrow, that would be wonderful as well!)

Good idea, and keep Dave from having to deal with them all day. It's a beautiful gesture, and she would have been thrilled by it, that I can promise you. Can't belive it's been nearly a year............................

Well, here we are, a year to the day since Steph died. Doesn't seem possible in some ways; in others, it seems like forever.
She's still a part of my daily life, altho I have finally gotten over the urge to call her every time the cats do something funny. She was too much a part of it for too many years not to be, probably will be for a very long time. I still automatically think of how she'd respond to events, from my losing Raven to the current Faire woes. Even if we wouldn't agree on something, I know what her reaction would be.
I won't ramble on forever here, no time, no sense, and life goes on whether or not you will. I miss her, always will, but I'm learning how to cope and move on.
In honor of the day, a little poem, if you'll forgive me. Been a LONG time since my poem writing days, and to say I'm rusty would be an understatement! But I mean well............
A Year Today
................a sudden laugh, a flash of red. the scent of jasmine rising, and you're gone.
Go with my love, Forever friend,
Fly Free and meet adventure as it comes.
And know this- that we'll meet again,
Embrace, and dance,
And walk together in the turning of the circle through the endless sunlit fields of Summerland.
In Memory of Stephanie.....................

Very nice poem Dill. She is missed very much and i agree a year since her passing went by quick it seems such a short time ago that i was sitting with her after closing talking about what ever was on our minds at the time.
I will bring a rose for cemetery BB and I will have the Rose-of-Sharon for the garden sat morning also. I'm hoping to have at least starts for 2 colors if not 3.

The first of the Honeycrisp apple crop is hitting the store shelves. Steph would have been right there waiting! She LOOOOOOOOOVED those things!

Discovered a new flavor of tea. Something we both liked to do, especially this time of year. She'd have hated this one though.....it has coconut in it, and she despised coconut.
Haven't tried it yet, but I also picked up a Bing Cherry flavor. Now THAT she would have loved!
