I can't stop singing the praises of Emuzeki! They are just amazing! I bought both cd's this Sunday and have been listening to them non stop. Great background music for day in the life.

So, what did everyone think of Todd? I liked him. Wish I could have been there Sunday, I wanted to watch his show again. Also, the tree was great as well.
For those that don't know. Broon's hand is better and he is now doing the bowling ball, apple, torch juggling.
Spent some more time at the joust, and am really enjoying this joust troupe. Some great hard hits, no WWF type stuff, and they are great to talk too when they aren't on the field.

Loved his show. He's an excellent performer, and a really nice guy offstage as well. I really hope he comes back next year for an extended run, not just one weekend. Like Trevor, I wanted to see his show again on Sunday, but didn't quite manage it.

I totally missed the Rennaisaince Man. I've been doing a decent job of getting to hear everyone else.

Wow, lots of great stuff this year. Listened to more of the music shows than we usually get to do. Really, really, like EMuzeki. Maidens IV, wow, those sisters were great, eh! Wenches great as always, although I missed some of familiar parts from past years, like searching for Royal underwear and playing 'grope and scoot'!! They were wonderful though!! Broon was excellent. We were so glad he and Fool Hearty were both back with us again!! Johnny, always wonderful!!
I must say we weren't happy with the jousts though. The first weekend we went to the 'storyline' joust, 6 p.m. Found out they weren't tying in the story--very disappointing! We gave it another try at an earlier show because we heard they were tying in some of the show. That one seemed a little better in some respects. It seemed like they were trying to pull in the audience a little more. Howere, I still miss having a good Field Marshall that explains some basics to the audience.
I think that helps people understand the joust, and helps make them more likely to respond at other shows, etc., also. There were people at the 3:30 p.m. joust that didn't even get the storyline of the Faire, let alone understand what was going on at the joust. Of course, that's not all on the jousters, especially this one guy that was sitting by us that seemed '3 sheets to the wind' at 3:30, and kept yelling for the King, where was the King!
Had to explain the King Richard was fighting in the Crusades, which was why his brother, Prince John, was currently the ruling monarch! I can't even really explain exactly what was missing. The mounts on the field looked very nice, as did the jousters. They seemed technically good in many respects, but seemed lackluster and without heart in other ways. It seemed way too staged in many areas also.
I did enjoy the special guest performers that were on Johnny's stage. The belly dancers were very good, liked the Ren Man, Flying Debris (remembered him from previous years in various shows), as good as always! Zoltan wasn't great, but he was adequate (just kidding, get it?!?) Got to see Axel and Keelhauler shows this year, since our guys are old enough for some of the content. Really enjoyed the Mud Skippers!
I liked having the Skakespeare Festival people there. I hope I get to see some of their performances when they have more than a few people trying to do all the parts. Shakespeare can be hard enough to follow without that, but I thought they were great performers!! They seemed to be joining into things at our shire too, which was nice to see!!

In defense to the Jousters, they prefer to stick what they know best, Jousting. They are not the theatrical troupes we have become accustomed to, but pure Jousters. The jousting was better than any that GLMF has had since I have been coming to faire.

Yes! That is what I loved about the joust this year. None of the theatrics. Just a straight up tournament like it would have been done in days of old. And some massively hard hitting!

I do think that someone needs to come out before the joust and expain the aye and nay and huzzah to the mundanes. I will agree with that. The joust was great the beating each other with batons before the joust was boring. The only tie in to the faire theme that I saw was that the sheriff of nottingham was the scorekeeper for the final joust.

I don't even think it was supposed to be tied in to the ongoing story. I don't think the joust has been tied into the story line for a few years now.
