Ded Bob is at MRF and I was told he will not be asked back to GLMF ever. Hack and Slash I believe went on to bigger and better things. I don't know the third group. Broon usually does the Bristol show. I enjoyed Fool Hardy and the Tartan Terrors.

Doubt we will have a longer season. I think one of the reasons it is set up the way it is, is so it doesn't conflict with GPRF. It's probably easier to book acts and vendors when they don't have to choose one faire over another. Especially ones in such close proximity. That would leave starting earlier, which I doubt would happen. I know I have hearl Larry say he would really like to not be open 4th of July weekend, as their attendance is really down for that weekend.

Better shading is definitely needed by the chessboard along with more sitting. Maybe a tent covering would be better than the simple netting they had this past year. Not many like to sit in the basking sun. I know I didn't so I missed a few shows that were there.

The Bakery at GLMF had a problem with bee's on a couple of days this year, I was talking with someone at MIRF and she said that at her faire ( forgot to ask which one it was) they put containers of sugar water in the rafters and the bee's went for the sugar water and left the pastry alone.

DaA couple of days?!!! Try years my friend, that's why you need to get your pastry early in the morning before the sun really bakes and the yellow jackets fly. But I supose if one will just have open air markets, one will have bees, and dust........

Some kind of roof or covering over the pub stage areas. I'm not talking about a permanent roof, as that would be too much, but something more like a circus tent without the sides and not as high. I know there's something about permanent buildings being difficult due to zoning issues; they have up all the ones they're really allowed. Some screwy county or state laws. I don't know the rules on roofs, if a pavilion sort of thing or open-air structure counts as a building or not. A tent roof would probably work wonderfully though.

From my understanding, most of the litigation is over concerning new buildings and such. I know Larry was going to start pushing for more permanent structures from some of the vendors.

Wouldn't be an additional building, just a remodeling of an existing structure, extending the roof to cover more area I mean.
I don't know who actually owns the pub buildings, I thought one was ran or owned by a volunteer fire department or something.
I thought I heard that other structures were owned by different people on the property.

The pubs used to be run by the fire department. From what I understand, the faire took over the operation of them. As such, I belive the pubs are owned by the faire. The vendor buildings are actually owned by the vendors. They have to build them themselves, (or pay to have them built) The stages and food courts are owned by the faire.

From my understanding, most of the litigation is over concerning new buildings and such. I know Larry was going to start pushing for more permanent structures from some of the vendors. That won't go over too well with many of the vendors. It takes a lot of money and legal rigamorole(sp?) to build. And lot of the vendors are doing poorly as it is. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Which is probably why it didn't happen this year. But I know several of the vendors I talked to are actually hoping to build next year. A lot of them actually would prefer to have a permanent structure.

The Harmony stage is permanent, sort of, at least it is as substantial as the Jewel stage, there is not much to either of them really .

i forget the name of the stage but it was in the middle of the wooded area behind the gypsy camp. i think they used to have a glassblowing thing there. perhaps if that stage were a bit bigger i think they could open that one back up and use it to open up for more shows!!
