One good thing, you don't have any furniture that you have to move to do all this painting. So, how's it going? Been a week since you lasted posted anything. Hope you're making progress.

Making progress. Last Sunday we got the front room painted. As well as the walls in the stairway (man am I glad that job is over). Today we painted the first floor bathroom.
Will try to get pics posted Sunday.
Still trying to shake whatever bug I have had for like a month now. I go a couple days feeling ok (not 100%, but close) than WHAM! I feel like crap again. Really slowing me down. Sunday I felt great. Monday still felt good and got some work done on the upstairs bathroom. Tuesday, barely made it through work so didn't go to the house. Wednesday still didn't have the energy after work. Yesterday I finally made it back over and painted around the ceiling in the front room. (because whatever idiot painted the wallpaper, not only slopped the paint onto the trim, they also got it on the ceilings too)
Hope this feeling good hold out. Because tomorrow (Saturday) I am meeting Britny in Pittsburgh for a concert.

Well, I survived the concert (barely) Met Brit around 3PM down in Pittsburgh. We wandered around sight seeing a bit. Stopped and got a bite to eat. Then wandered to the venue. By 10PM, I was ready to leave, only problem was, the show didn't end until 11. Between being wiped out by whatever I have, all the walking around (forgot how hilly Pitt is) Then really rocking out for the middle 2 bands, I was about shot. Especially since I wasn't really into the headliner. Oh, and we didn't have seats. We were standing on the floor of the venue.
So Sunday was a day to recuperate. All I did was go do the grocery shopping with the wife. That was enough.
Today though. Hit it pretty good. The agenda for this week is get a really good jump on demoing the kitchen. I got all the trim off, and tore out the one pantry. Tomorrow I have to do a little electrical investigation. There are receptacles mounted inside some of the cabinets that I need to disconnect before I can rip them out.

Who the hell puts an electric outlet inside a cabinet? Seems like a weird place to me, ya go to plug in your toaster and yo have all the dishes in the way. Dumb!
Question: What made Britny decide to go to school for engineering anyway? She's way to smart to be hanging around with those idiots. We both know how damn dumb automotive engineers are, well I guess if you're to stupid to make it in that field you become a bridge engineer as they seem to know what they are doing even less.
There are structures on this planet that have stood for thousands of years like the Great Wall of China for example. Today we can't even build a bridge to last five days. Kinda sad ain't it?

Oh, you should see the really stupid ones. There are 3 receptacles up along the edge of the ceiling. When I saw the first one (over the sink) I just assumed it was for a clock. You know. Back in the day we didn't have fancy battery operated ones, and almost every kitchen had a clock above the window over the sink. Well, last week, when she was pulling the shelves out of the upper cabinets, the wife called me into the kitchen. 2 of the upper cabinets also had wall receptacles almost at the top of the cabinet. How the hell would you ever use those? As far as Britny and engineering. She wanted to be an architectural engineer, so she could combine her love of art, math, and problem solving. Seems she is too smart for engineering though, since she isn't working in that field any longer.

Man time flies. Keep going over to the house after work for an 'hour or so' and next thing I know, it's almost 8 PM. But we are making great progress in demoing the kitchen Now that it's cleared out, we have almost nailed down our new cabinet layout, and what we are putting on the walls.

But Trevor, look at the great view of the lake you would have, and you could turn the light into the BAT SIGNAL! Ya might wanna give it a second thought. All you would need do is hit the Power Ball jackpot.

Well, you can't do anything with the light, as that is still Coast Guard property, and they maintain it.
Got all the tile up off the floor in the 1st floor bathroom. Man, I hate that kind of job. Still have some residue to scrape off, but also found a soft spot in the floor I need to replace. Must have had a leak at some point, the plywood is all papery and delaminated. It's not a traffic area, so, with the tile still in place, you couldn't even tell because of the stiffness of the tile. It's right under the toilet, against the wall. I'm going to investigate more tomorrow. Check it out from underneath in the crawl space before I go sticking a sawsall through the floor and cut into something I don't want to 8)

Good idea: TRIPLE CHECK that sucka. You DON"T wanna cut thru a water or gas line that may be nearby. not after all the work you did to get that mess straightened out.
Good luck with this project. Even doing all the work yourself the parts alone like new cabinets for the kitchen and new tiles on the floor, etc, this is gonna get expensive in a hurry. And whats with this "crawl space" nonsense? Those photos you posted a couple of pages ago looked like a full size walk upright basement. That large diameter copper pipe was going into the cast iron stack which is where the poop goes when you flush the toilet, and I would think the toilet is right next to the bath tub.

Most of the house is sitting on a full basement. But back in the 60's-70's they put on an addition, which contains the laundry room, and first floor bath. That only has a crawl space under it.

If they added a first floor bathroom in the 70's what did they have before that, an outhouse? Or if you're lucky an upstairs bathroom. Kinda reminds me of our old house in Novelty before we moved here. The house had a walk upright basement EXCEPT for the North end where the kitchen and bathroom were located. I wouldn't even call it a crawl space, it was a lay on your back and shimmy space, like digging out of a Nazi prison camp like on Hogens Hero's. You had maybe 18 inches of space between the dirt and the floor joists. Picture replacing the exhaust system on your car WITHOUT jacking it up. That was what working on the plumbing was like.
Whats up with that? were the assholes who built the place too lazy to dig it all out or did they decide to add a kitchen and bathroom later? I'm tarred o goin down ta the creek to warsh the dishes Clem, Ya'all need to build me a kitchen, an indoor plumbing wood be nice too. I always did wonder about that place.

Yeah, it has a 2nd floor bath as well. But it is small and only has a shower, no tub. So before the add on, it must have been really cramped.
As far as the crawl space. Yeah. It isn't very high. Like 2 courses of blocks, that's it. I am hoping I don't have to get in there for anything.
