A few hours away, but for those interested, it runs all of September, and halfway through October. www.renfestival.com/Lots of familiar faces there from our faire. Especially this year.

I'll be making a few trips back and forth on 71 over the next month or so. Seems like I could spare a day (maybe two?) for a little frolicking in the 16th century!

Weather looks wonderful for this weekend and Harveysburg is about the perfect distance for breaking in the new bike in one glorious trip. Unfortunately, though, all my usual dog sitters will be scattered between Columbus and Michigan this weekend. I suppose I could have her kenneled for the weekend... hmm, must ponder on this.

Grouser...When you said "break in the new bike" did you mean the pedal kind, or the Vroom, Vroom kind? I was just curious, as in my circle of friends there are some who would think nothing of pedaling a bicycle down there and back.
Well, which ever kind you're talking about, hope ya have fun.
HANK.

Vroom, Vroom kind. This may sound odd, Hank, but while I wouldn't hesitate to fly down a highway while clinging to a gas filled, two wheeled missile, I'd be scared to death to be on something that couldn't outrun the person behind me that is paying more attention to their cell phone than the road. Respect to your friends. They have brass ones.

I would offer to dog-sit, but I'll hardly be home this weekend and I don't know how my cats would react to a dog.

I would offer to dog-sit, but I'll hardly be home this weekend and I don't know how my cats would react to a dog. My cats usually ignore her and she usually ignores them but they all grew up together and they taught her the error of her ways when she was but a pup. As far as anything else that's smaller than her, though... well, she'd probably try to go all Labradork on them and it would be a disaster one way or another. I do appreciate the thought, though!

Think I'm going to just shelve this idea and keep things local this weekend. I've only used the kennel before when I had no other options (business trips, hospitalizations) and while I know they take good care of her there, I just don't feel right about having her in a cage most of the weekend while I'm out playing.

So the weather is finally cooperating, my dog has someone to take care of her and I've a bit of free time on my hands. I'm packing the bike up with my camping gear tomorrow and heading out for Kentucky bright and early Wednesday morn. On Friday, I'll go from there to Caesar's Creek State Park and then I plan on spending all day Saturday at Ohio Ren Faire and coming home on Sunday. Hope this goes well!

Thanks! I'm all packed and ready to rock at the crack of dawn. Gonna try to do this with no freeway - US42 all the way to Louisville... no idea which way I'm coming back!
