Me too. I like saying hello to the nice people. I like pasting the sticker on it while I am standing in the gate talking to Beth. And I like never taking the pass out of the pouch again after that because Beth knows my face. Plus, I never have spare cash until right around the start of the season anyhow. And my postal carrier tends to mis deliver stuff to the old lady down the street who forgets to return it.

So... chances are the Captain of the ISS Challenger (from the mirror universe) will beam down for the 3rd weekend. Despite the mirror universe's hostile nature, I hear he's a pretty decent guy...
One weekend will see Lord Anthony of (TBD) escorting his mother to the festival...
And the rest of the summer (at least as much as I can get there) will see Cap'n Red Shirt of the Privateer Enterprise visiting the village.

Kinda sad the remarks. Haven't been on in awhile now I know why. I can only say it is kinda hard to arrange everything when he never knows until the last minute every year if you are all going to even enjoy a faire for the new season. As you all may know or forgot the trustees try very hard all winter long to make sure it doesn't open and Larry spends much of his time in legal battles to bring the faire back for the year for all of you while still trying to do as much as possible without causing too many issues. As it is he would have to pay back all the ticket sales that are generated over the winter if something were to happen. While working his butt off all winter to make money to open the faire for the previous year because all the money was spent on legal expenses. I can only say you all complain but keep coming back each year. It would be nice to hear some positive and support on here for once instead of negative. Faire support and fighting against the trustees would be time better spent instead of venting on here. Just my opinion and I am sure it doesn't matter. I was always told keep your mouth shut because you have no idea if you haven't walked in someone else's shoes what is really going on. I do know some of the comments are not true. ED was given many things to put on line and didn't do it until last minute. Yes crew is light because there are not enough funds with the legals. Everything always follows a chain of commands because things have been misposted in the past and have caused more issues than you all have done to the faire. Also I know Larry very well and he is pretty hip on internet and such I know he takes classes and talks to people who do a lot of marketing with bigger and successful companies and keep him up to date on what works and what doesn't. He always listens and follows the advice of the people in the know. I for one listen to the radio and read the newspaper daily. I also am one with a disposable income so I guess if you reach out to all age groups who would come to the faire and spend money you are doing the right thing. Again, just my personal thoughts and probably don't matter. Also guess I don't miss much on here when I am not on. Later everyone enjoy your complaining sessions. I have more important things to worry about and waste my time on. I only care that my faire is back again. Huzzah to Larry and staff for all your endless hours of hard work and dedication. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now, now. Be nice. Though it could have probably used a few paragraph breaks, "guest" made some good points. And, took the time to post their thoughts. Not all of us are good at expressing ourselves in print, as opposed to speaking.
In response to "guest". Please post more often. If you don't like the tone, or the subject matter. The only way to change that is to post your side. As long as it is the same people posting, then the same opinions will be what is discussed.

Sorry Trevor. Guest's post sort of took me by surprise. It doesn't seem very... well... "timely" I guess is the word I'm looking for.
We're a month into GLMF's off-season. There isn't a beetch-fest going on at the moment. I think people were quite pleasantly surprised that next years dates, hours and themes have already been set and we even had RS detailing his plans for next year.
In real time context, Guests post just seemed totally out of left field.
So I mocked it.
My bad.

Yeah, the timing is a little off. But the poster did mention that they hadn't been here for a while. And I know some of the early posts in the thread were a little ........ unkind. I am sure that is what they were reacting to.

You're probably spot on with that, Trevor. It's not the sum total, though. I know there are plenty of criticisms and even some cheap shots to be found on the board but the over-all tone doesn't come off to me as being entirely negative. Course, that may just be my perspective. A couple other boards that I frequent are far more harsh than I've ever seen MM.

Hello All, I just wanted to say my two cents worth. I think Larry is really showing us something here. This is the earliest that dates & themes have ever been posted. This shows the love & respect he has for us all who love the GLMF. Were there problems this year...sure there were but Brett and his staff tried to make the best of it. Especially when the ticket vendor went belly up. Beth bent over backwards to get us our season passes and tickets. I just don't want this to go un-noticed or taken lightly. Larry is sending us a huge message. He does listen to us all and tries to make many people happy. There were many rumors that this was the faire's last year. Well, Larry is telling us all there will be a 2012...HUZZZZZZAH. We all know the story of the lawsuit etc. but one thing is for sure, when we needed to rally around Larry last year, the faire family did show up. I know in the past 9 years I have been going to the faire, it does grow on you. Larry is saying he has listened to us and is telling us almost a year inadvance what the dates are. This shows how much he cares for the Faire and us. SO those that complain, well we can never please them anyways. To Larry, Cindy, Brett, Beth and the rest of the 2011 staff. THANKS so much for another great faire. I look forward to 2012 as well. Till we all meet again in Avaloch! Sir Michael of Mentor

I'm not sure what my vacation schedule is going to look like next year but if it holds to the same pattern as this year, then I'll only be able to make the first weekend and second Saturday. I look forward to seeing what the second weekends theme might be. Wishing a very merry Equinox to everybody!

You're probably spot on with that, Trevor. It's not the sum total, though. I know there are plenty of criticisms and even some cheap shots to be found on the board but the over-all tone doesn't come off to me as being entirely negative. It depends on what you key in on. Some people see one or two critical comments, and that is what they see. They are very protective of our faire and see any bad comments as an attack. I am more realistic in my perspective. I see all the comments (good and bad) and tend to gloss over most of them in my mind. Not that I don't care what people think or say. But just because I don't get all that worked up about anything wrtten on an message board in cyber-space. Words are just words. Actions are what speak. And I know 90% of the posters here personally. I know they love the faire and want nothing more than to see it thrive, flourish, and continue on for decades to come. They show that, by being there, at the faire. As much as they can. By having fun, and bringing that fun to others. Everyone has their own idea of what could help the faire do better. But the only opinion on that that ultimately matters, is Larry's.
