I was going to change the countdown clock, but can't decide which day will be opening day next year. The 4th falls on a Wednesday next year. so, would it be celebrated on the weekend before, or the weekend after?
And that would determine if the faire will open on the 7th, or the 14th.
Any thoughts?

Lets set it for the 7th and adjust it later if the announce the opening eekend as the 14th. Logically, it has been the second weekend in july in the past. The 14th would push final week even further into other faires.

That is what I was thinking also. If it didn't start until the 14th, there would only be 3 weekends in July, making it 3 weekends in August.

I volunteer to do website updates... They actually have a very good webmaster right now. They just won't let him do anything without approval, and trying to get them to give him the ok to update things is a headache.

Yeah. The problem is, that the owner is an old school promoter, that still thinks Billboards and radio spots are what drive commerce. He doesn't really 'get' the internet, so doesn't see the value of keeping the site updated. It's like on the bottom of his priority list. Hopefully, next year, the ED situation will be more stable and not a last minute thing like this year. Then the ED can get the changes to Andy in a timely manner.

Faire kinda reminds me of The Cleveland Browns under Art Modell. Art would hire people, like a coach for example, but never let them do their job without his approval. I mean why waste money on a coach, if you're going to call the plays yourself? And we all know how successful they were, don't we?
HANK.

Definately why D-day in Normandy was a success. Hitlers generals couldnt do their jobs without approval. History shows us how that worked out.
Huzzah for the good guys!

I used to freelance for a company like that. The editors could hire us to do work but the work would not get released on the website until the president and webmaster approved it. The webmaster thought he needed specific itemized clearance and the president ignored his email from editors so nothing ever got posted without a 2 year delay. (and nobody got paid until 6 months after it went up.).

Well folks, I think we've hit one nail on the head...the thing is...do WE have the power to change that...and frankly...since this has been an on going thing, I'd say...no. I doubt we as Playtrons/Paytrons can convince Larry to let go of the reins to some extent to let people do their job...not sure if anyone on Staff can do that either since, as we've noted, this has been going on for awhile. We, having our "ins" and "ways" to find out info are not the ones directly affected...others who don't have such connections (mundanes) or who trust Web Sites for info are the ones that are left hanging high and dry...what to do, what to do?
