if we are going to dream...... I want Flogging Molly........... LOLOLOLOLOL but it would be incredible. Also, I've been sad since the jail was torn down. A newer, better jail would be superb. Not only is the jail near and dear to my heart, but I loved doing it and it forces a huge amount of interaction with patrons that normally would not participate.

Unfortunately, i don't think the jail will be returning any time soon, if ever at all. There were so many issues with the functionality of the whole idea. Alot of the time it was used as a place for grown ups to leave their kids for a couple hours while they went off drinking. it was worse than the fairy forest. baby sitting service aside, most of the past directors used it as an assignment to break in the newer cast rather than place more expirienced cast in to do the dirty work. IT was also a horrible anchor... because there always had to be one jailer there at all times and it was usually one person there more than the rest os them. It was supposed to be used to make money for casts costumes and such but it never really made much money. If it were possible to talk Larry into it again, there are some people out there with AWESOME money making ideas. If anyone has ever been to michigan, their jail is phenominal. it's almost as big as the drift inn. They make buck, too.

I know some problems arose on the grounds of the physical structure itself....zoning type stuff that I don't quite remember. Also, there are many very successful jails, but in order for ours to be it would need to be a big deal. It was never plugged as a show/attraction/etc. and was small enough that it was OFTEN overlooked by patrons.
I also think there would need to be at least 4 jailers. I know this was often intended, but I'm pretty sure most years there were only 3. Having 4 or even 5 would make it so they can rotate shifts between street and the jail. Leaving 1 person there was never good b/c they can't hawk for a show that they need to wait on ppl to come back to start. If it was well organized they could rotate all of this and always have 2 or 3 jailers there to do a show.

Our jail was modeled after MI. That's where i got the idea. We didn't use it to "break in" newer cast. The first year we did it , it was quite successful. But it's hard when you only have so many cast memebers to pick from. And your stonger people are the principals. So that doesn't leave many people to choose from. It all comes down to this. Not enough cast. Not enough time to explain how it works. MRF's jail is also an independant entity. Like a vendor. They have no other responsibility than to run the jail. And did i mention they have anywhere from 20-35 jailrs, depending on the year?? I know this as a fact, i worked MRF for years and my husband used to hang out with the JAilors. Besides it took them 20 years to get as big as they are now.
SO no. The jail won't be back for a long time, if ever.

Hello, this is Candalyn. I played Lady Constance this past year. I wasn't the best I could be this past season, but I am determind to be better next year!
Would anyone know who has the video of Doug( aka, Hugo- Rogue) proposing to me after the one chess match? A couple people said that they'd give us a copy of it, but never did. We would appreciate it greatly!
I am so excited for this coming season! Doug and I are still planning to be married at Faire. We're are not sure if it will be this coming year b/c he's getting laid off in January... We'll know in a month.

Well it is officially 2009! Huzzah! As Axel Rosa pointed out on another thread, it is time to start on the 2009 season. I have the greatest hopes that Scot will be able to really hit his stride this year. The first year at any position is on a learning curve, but I feel he did very well and that only serves to raise my expectations. Any word on signed acts yet? Are we still doing King Arthur? What is Larry planning on this year? Last year he put a lot of needed effort toward the children's area. Any hints at next year?

I do believe the Arthur theme will be returning, unless they change their minds from last I heard.
