Too early to think about GLMF and what we'd like to see? I think not!! Having finished my "Faire Season" I think it's the perfect time to look forward to the 2009 Season...With that in mind, what would we like to see? To name a few...
The Rogues (Just saw them at MDRF and they were ROCKIN'!!)
Owain (but alas, with a shift in Faire starting time I fear he will not be at GLMF...*sigh*)
Ded Bob
Bob DaVinci
Empty Hats
....to be continued.....

Well...this is just conjecture...but if Larry is starting the Faire a week later than usual (after July 4th) and we didn't see Master Owain until the last weekend...that will put the closing of GLMF the same time as the opening of Michigan Ren. Faire...which is Master Owain's Home Faire, so I doubt he'd miss the opening of his own Home Faire to hit the last weekend of ours...at least that's how I put 2 and 2 together....

Heard it from a vendor at GLMF...seems he doesn't bring in enough money on that weekend what with everything else going on in Cleveland and people doing family stuff and not coming to Faire...time will tell but I've heard it from several places...

It would seem that TPTB can't seem to make up their minds when to start GLMF. I mean a couple of seasons ago they tried starting after July 4th, then this year we were right back to the 4th of July weekend once again. I would think not having a consistent starting date would hurt them more then anything since folks have NO idea (I'm not talking us die hards here) just when it is going to take place.
Even when they started a week late it never seemed to me to be all that busy the first weekend. Quit bouncing it all over the calendar, pick a date and live with it. It's getting to be almost as bad as Easter. It's here, it's there, it's everywhere.

Actually, it was after Pittsburgh closed that Larry finally moved the opening from the 4th of July weekend. I think this year worked out the way it did, just because the way the date fell. Because technically, it was still after the 4th.
If we start after the 4th in 2009 we would end on the 15th/16th of August. Which isn't much later than normal for us.

If it ends a weekend later, my birthday may actually be on a Faire day ^.^ And I agree, Hephzibah, I liked the new acts. Loony Lucy was my favorite. I hope she and Giacamo(Sp?) come back next year.

would love to see Moonie team up with Broon THAT would be awesome! I'd also love to see Christophe the Insulter but I doubt the Faire would want to deal with the deadbeat patrons who would be "offended" even tho' they are warned....

While I can understand the business choice to not compete with so many other venues for the 4th, I would prefer to have consistency with the run date. It makes it easier to get the word out. It helps when people can tie vacation time to a long weekend. I have enticed/threatened/bribed people to come to GLMF next year from the various fairs that I visit. I know we had a nice invasion of RF'rs last season because it was the 4th.
I agree Capt. it is never too soon to think about what you'd like to see next year.
1. Wouldn't it be great to have a covered pub. for those frequent periods of heavy humidity. (any movement by the township?) 2. Not having Celtic weekend running on the same weekend as the Irish festival in Cleveland.
3. The Rogues / Albanoch / Tartan Terrors (hey one can dream)
4. The Limey Birds 5. Tortuga Twins
6. I miss Connie and Michelle at pub sing
7. More interaction in the lanes. ( Who doesn't want more interaction?)
