Update on Steve's mom. 9/22

Steve has asked me to post some updates for him.
For those who don't know. Steve is Steve Bowen.
Craft Coordinator for the faire, and owner of Artisans to the Knights.

His mother became ill over the weekend, and though he tried to keep it a secret, word got out, and many of the other vendors would like to be kept apprised of the situation.

Just got this in my email, so here it is.

"Here is where it stands right now. Mom is still in the "Cricitle Care Unit" Southpoint Hospital which is part of the Cleveland Clinic. She is listed in
stable condition for the moment. More batteries of Tests are Schedualed
as they are trying to figure out what occured and why. There are some
complications which is what they are trying to figure out.

My Brother and Nephew visited her and have told me that she is better than she was on Sat night when I first found out. She is still not out of the woods by any stretch of the means but we are hopefull about the eventual outcome.

I will keep you posted as I learn more.

Seventeen Years ago on the Shores of Lake Erie a faire was born.
Sixteen Years ago in a Forrest the Village of Avaloch was born.
Four years ago I took over the Position of Craft and Merchant Director.
I have been with the fair from the beginning.
I have travelled across the country to many times to count.
And have worked faires for twenty four plus years.
I have never been anywhere at any faire where the concept of family
and friends actually ment as much as it does here.
We have created something very special here. Something that is greater by far than the sume of its parts. We have buried family and friends over the years on
this journey. But thier love and presence is always felt. A year goes by and
we renew our family and friendships as if we'd never been apart.
The faire is over for this season and we go our ways. My jouney takes me back to Cleveland and to Home. There to begin another adventure whose outcome
is in the hands of the Creator of All Things. And While my mind is here, and my heart is here. My thoughts return of Avaloch and what magic has been created there. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time. I will see thee next season upon the Shores of Avaloch. Use the momemtum created by our
current crises with the township trustees, in a possitive manor. So that when the tail is told long from now, People will say: "What a magical Place Avaloch is,
they didn't fold, they didn't run away, they met Adversity Head on and defeated it with Honour and the courage of their convictions."

Today's update.

"I have talked with mom. She is resting well, is able to eat a "soft diet"
She has been moved from ICU into a regular room. The doctors are still
doing more tests: some to determine what caused the problem in the first
place and others to check and see if there is any damage to other organs.
Those results we do not have yet. She is in good spirits and seems to be
doing a little better each day. that is a very good sign. The nurses are
encouraged by the fact, that as serious as this is, she is complaining about the
food and her pillow. Per her Nurse that means that she is a fighter and has not given up. Which is also considered a good sign."

Glad she is doing better. The first thing I do when going up on
Medieval is to see how thing are going with your mom, she is in my prayers as are you, as you are part of the faire family we have come to love.

Today's update.

"I have talked with mom's doctors and with mom.
She is still stable, but is expected to be in the
hospital for at least another 8 to 10 days.
Still not out of the woods yet, but looking
better.

Do not have the results yet from her tests of
today which included a full body MRI."

ok on a lighter note, this annual need for somebody to have to be under a doctors care at the end of the season has just got to stop.

I officially order everyone and their families to be healthy.

Friday night update.

I have talked with Mom again today, after I got back from the GLMF site.
She is Resting well. They did an MRI Yesterday, results are in but at this point inconclusive. The Schedualed a CAT Scan of her Brain, and have brought in
a Nuralogist (not sure of spelling) So currently they are looking in that direction as to the cause of the problem.

Currently her Sodium, Potasium, and Electrolights are now back to normal levels.
While they are still looking into the cause, they have dicided to get her into
a P/T Program to help her with mobility and her back and neck problems associated with arthitis (not sure of spelling)

While I was a Dennis and Rita's Last night, so we could work on get my building ready for Winter and closing it down for the season. She got onto the Website
and read me some of the messages that people had left.

I wanted to thank everyone for there thoughts and prayers, for My Mom and me during this difficult time.

Today's update.

"visited mom in the Hospital and have talked with by my brother and some of her Doctors and Nurses. We now know the following based upon all of the testing that was done this week.

Mom did not have a: Stroke, Heart Attack, Kidney Failure, nor any kind of trouble with her brain functions. Nor were any of these organs damaged in any way by last Saturday's medical emergency! That is most excellant news! As all of the above were a point of concern during the past week.

One of the CAT scans that they did was of her Neck and Back. This however is
a pre-existing condition, which we have been dealing with for over a decade.
The CAT scan was to determine the course of her P/T. since the want to keep her for further tests they decided to go ahead and start. They are working on stength conditioning, balance etc.

They have more tests schedualed for Sunday Once I have some concrete results
I will make another posting. At this point she is stable, in good spirits and doing well. For the moment barring something unforseen she is well on her way to a full recovery.
