Figured we needed a thread to actually discuss the movie and what happens in it. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you probably don't want to read in this thread. As this will be an open discussion of anything and everything that happened in the movie.

Looks like I will be kicking this off. Loved the wedding! That was completely awesome!
The battle between the Black Pearl, and the Dutchman was great. Loved them battling it out while swirling in that vortex.
One complaint I did have though, was the fights. They were way too fast. You couldn't pick out what was happening like in the previous movies. Especially that duel in the first movie. One of the reasons it was so great, is because you could pick out each blow and see the progression. That was missing in most of the fights in this one.

My son and I commented that we didn't think there was as much action this time around. Maybe it was because the fight scenes went buy quickly. The wedding was interesting. I don't know if I would trust Barbosa to marry me. I agree with Hank about standing in a bucket of water if you want to visit with your loved ones.

I have to agree...overall the movie was better than the 2nd movie. 1st one still tops them all. I do wish there had been more sword fighting throughout.
Looks open for at least a 4th movie.

We were a little disappointed that Chow Yun-Fat didn't get any good fight scenes....seemed like a waste of his talents.
I wish Norrington had gotten more of a plotline - but at least he got to redeem himself! I liked his (somewhat cheesy) line about crossing destinies, but not destined to continue together - however that went.
As for the ending.....I guess it is just the sappy romantic in me...but I couldn't take the "one day every 10 years" thing. It made me sad and angry!!! Grrr, I'm such a girl. And of course that made me totally snark the bit that followed the credits. My comments there included: - "Well, given the life expectancy of the time period, and assuming she was about 20 when they got married, she's got about 2 good nights of boinking before she kicks off." - "Damn, I want to age like she does!" - "That poor kid. 'Hey, Jr., I'm your dad....now beat it so I can do your mom. Dammit, I've only got 24 hours!' " And I love Hank's comment about the bucket of water. Because I know LOTS of women who'd love to have a piratey-shaped Orlando Bloom coat rack in their living room.... (or bedroom) ;D

I did enjoy the part where Davey Jones was human looking for a few split seconds..Those tentacles grosssed me out.. When (cant remember her name) ---> crab woman was in jail and touched Davey Jones.
And yes after the credits it was sentimental..

tey adoma aka Calipso.
Yes I liked that part too. I was glad to have them show Davey Jones as he was BEFORE he corrupted himself. it was a nice touch.
Personally I liked the after credits scene. but I have to agree once every ten years is just NOT enough!!!!! ;D

Yeah, hey. I'm sure in that time period some material existed, seal skins perhaps, or maybe oil cloth that could be sewn together to create a (sea) water bed, if ya get my drift. And hell, why couldn't she board the Flying Dutchman from time to time? Everybody and their brother was on board that ship at some point.
Gotta agree about the fighting. It was like it was done in the fast forward mode. You really could not pick out any angles of attack. ( Sword School has corrupted us)
Now!! That movie was about 3 hours long, so you can imagine how long the DVD will be when they come out with the Unrated directors cut with all the deleted scenes added. BUT! The nice thing about DVD is you can pause it for a bathroom break. HANK.

Some snarking for an otherwise highly enjoyable movie:
Focus on Davy Jone's music box. Show Will recognizing same design on the witch's jewelry. Flashback to last scene of PotC2 when Davy Jones was said to fall in love with either a woman or the sea: "The one and the same". Okay, so once Calypso is mentioned as a sea goddess, does anyone have any doubts as to who Calypso is?
I felt beat upside the head with "A bit of destiny in you!". It had to remind us not once, but twice, of the last scene in #2.
Wackiest wedding scene, EVAR!
10 Years Later: First thing Elizabeth says to Will: "Do you realize how much child support you owe?!?!?!"
Plotline of #4: (And yes, there will be a #4! Depp signed on!) Search for the Fountain of Youth. Elizabeth is still the Pirate King. Just send your right-hand-wacko Jack in search of it so you can spend eternity with your immortal husband. Elizabeth and Will don't even need screentime. You wondered why she aged so well?!?
It was hard to keep from laughing during the Braveheart scene.
So, why didn't Elizabeth "accidentally" get run through with a sword after the final battle, so she could be recruited to serve on the Flying Dutchman with Will for eternity? Better than 1 day out of every 36,502.
We know why Will doesn't come back for a weekend jaunt every now and then.. If he does, he starts to get all tentaclely and stuff. .... But wait! Tentacles give possibilities!
And doesn't anyone find it odd that Disney allowed a child to be born from a loss of virginity involving necrophilia? Apparently, anything goes if in wedlock.

Beerblessings...A few comments on your posting ole chap. WACKIEST WEDDING SCENE EVAR! Ya think if Pirate Dave decides to marry for a FORTH time we can talk him into doing this? Us Sword Schools regulars are skilled enough we could reenact a battle scene without killing one another. HMMMMM. DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH CHILD SUPPORT YOU OWE!?! good one wish I had thought of that myself. BETTER THEN ONE DAY OUT OF EVERY 36,502. uh! maybe you should cut back on the beer a little! there are 365 days in ONE year so 10 years would be 3,652 (factoring in a couple of leap years) BUT WAIT, TENTACLES GIVE POSSIBILITIES! what flashes thru my mind was a scene from the old TV show Babylon 5 where a group of characters are watching an Alien porno film all aghast, wondering "is that even possible?" Another good one sir. I know what you're thinking, and it boggles the mind. HANK.

Hank You're kidding no doubt? A 4th marriage? paleese... Give it up after 2X. If you are going for number 4, marriage just isnt for you then...some people are just not meant to be married.

If I do get married for the forth time I feel that she would love to go for a fight scene wedding, but we all will have to get battle ready weapons and there are a couple of people that will not be involved (seen them get carried away). As for the movie I agree that fight scenes were to fast, but I did love the double broadside. In P4 they can bring back Calypso to play more havoc on people, I was disappointed that a whirlpool is all she cause. The Sea Witch from Little Mermaid did more.

BeerBlessings just wanted to let you know that Davy Jones had tentacles because he didn't take care of the dead people. But anyway I loved the movie although some of the lines that Calypso we hard to hear. I was stunned when Will was stabbed!! I couldn't move for 5 minutes. I just couldn't believe it!! As for the part after the credits, unfortunately I didn't get to see it. So I have no clue what happened. It was definitely left open for a 4th movie so I hope they do make more!! All in All I loved it and I can't decide which one I like the best!

OMG! A battle-marriage would be AWESOME! Though I sincerely doubt that Dave and I will get married anytime soon. The poor man needs a break from the bonds, and I'm not quite ready yet.
Loved the movie, though I do agree with the others who said that the fight scenes were too fast. Hopefully, we'll see a 4th movie on the horizon soon...
