Afterwards, we just head home and get cleaned up ourselves. Especially the first month or so when the weather was cold and wet.
Got pretty nasty out there with woodchips and water and mud.

To Airdwinne and anyone else who wants to help with Faire cleanup 2006. Here are some guidelines to help you out.
1. Bring a good pair of work gloves.
2. Bring boots. Rain and melting snow will turn that place into a muddy mess.
3. If you have a favorite tool from home, bring it. (leave rake, garden rake, things like that.) GLMF can supply some tools but if we get a lot of help they may not have enough to go around.
4. Food: Last year we brought deli sandwiches or subs, or whatever you would like to eat. We also brought stuff to pass around and share. Fruit, cookies, cheese and crackers, ect. We also did hot dogs on the burn pile a couple of times. Bunnie and I can supply two big water jugs. Don't forget to bring cups and plates.
5. If you have any questions, post them here and I'm sure either Trevor or I can supply you with an answer. If I think of anything else I feel might be useful I will add it to the list.
HANK

Hepz... Some good suggestions there. As I recall from last year bugs weren't much of a problem till later on (June or around there)
Shovels. I don't think we did much digging, and GLMF has a few if we need them.
Chain saws. I can supply two, and this one fellow, Josh, I think his name was, had his. AND, I hope we don't need them as much as we did last year.
I can point out poison ivy to you.
GLMF supplied all the paint and brushes we needed. You probably would want to bring rags and/or a roll of paper towels. And maybe some hand cleaner.

Most of the work we did last year was cut up fallen trees. Something I hope we do not have as much of this year. That storm the first week of April is what did all the damage. I'm sure we will have broken branches and sticks to pick up, just hopefully not to the extent we did last year.
Leaf raking was another fun activity. Who would of ever thought you would be out in the woods raking leaves? sounds sorta silly when ya think about it.
Another big activity was scrapping and repainting of the stages and such.
Bunnie and I have talked about trying to get up there some time soon and "scout it out" just to see what we are facing. Of course, once I know what we are dealing with I will post it. Maybe this weekend if the weather is not total crap. HANK

Operation Avaloch returns Sunday April 9th. 11am by the big door of the Feast Hall.
Only Sunday as Saturday is the first cast rehearsal and I am needed there to do admin type stuff, allergy notices, emergency info, etc!
Thankfully site is nowhere near as bad as last winter. Although, our worst storm came April 1st!! and because we had so many trees fall last year, there should be much less to clean up!! At least that's what I'm praying for. I'm also looking into gettting the powerwashers serviced so we don't have to scrap paint this year. I'm in the process of getting my project list approved so on our first day I will expalin what the plan will be.
As far as what to bring, Hank covered most of that. Don't worry about bugs yet. Dress weather appropriate. The ground will be either frozen or muddy, so boots are a good choice. Work gloves, rakes and snacks are a good idea too. We will be picking up deadfall (orphaned stix) for at least the first two weekends and we will assess as we go, what we might need for following weekends!!!
See ya soon!!

OPERATION AVALOCH RECON. Bunnie and I just returned from scouting out Avaloch. The BAD news is, we will have plenty of work to do. The GOOD news is, It ain't nowhere near as bad as last year. Bunnie took some photos with her new digital camera, so as soon as she can figure out how to post them here you will be able to see for yourself.
Now! since winter does not end around here till some time in May, this could all change by the time we get there April 9th for clean up. But as it stands today this is what we have:
Some downed branches by the swimming pool area. across from the fruit & veggie vendor will need chain sawing. same for down around the elephant area. A medium size tree down across the fence where the privy's are back by Brazin Lady. Another tree down across from the Washing Well stage, next to gypsy camp. Fairy forest is probably the biggest mess. Lots and Lots of leaf raking gonna be happening there. Some of the trellises will need to be repaired, and a lot of branches down in there. Some chain sawing, but mostly just pick up small stuff. The roof on the stage by Sword school will need to be repaired. The shingles blew off and are hanging over the front of the building. It looks like a large branch came down on the roof of the one palm reader building. The one between the Stumble Inn and the Mud Pit. Some more chain sawing near the costume rental place. The Jail area looks good. To any of the vendors reading this, be it known, most of the buildings are intact. Most of the fallin branches are in the pathways or fell on open spaces.
So, there ya have it. Lots of raking, lots of stick picking up, some chain sawing. and I don't know what Sara will want us to paint. Will find that out later I'm sure. HANK.
