Let me second (third?) the motion that the ladies all have to wear togas during Roman weekend. I haven't been to a good toga party since my fraternity days... Yep. Heading right down that road to dirty old man... King Arthur Hold on hold on hold on!!! Greg, you were a frat boy? Since when did they start letting oddballs like us into greek groups? And just in case anyone has *no* idea who I am, this is the first Arthur, and more recently one of Cerdic's thugs from 2 years ago.

Yep, I was a "frat boy". When I went to Dickinson College (for my first degree in Physics), I joined Alpha Phi Omega my freshman year. A-phi-O is a national, coed, service fraternity. We didn't have a house, we didn't haze, we just went out and did community service projects together. We did have an occasional party for ourselves, but not huge blowouts. It was more about the service. We did everything from work at soup kitchens, to clean parks and plant trees, to help build houses with Habitat for Humanity. You see, I believe that it is not the government's responsibility to perform "social services" (part of my conservative/Republican beliefs). In fact, the good ol' USA really didn't have social services until the New Deal (which was supposed to be a temporary fix for the Great Depression, not a permanent one). And people, as a whole, got along fine. How and why? Because it is, I believe, truly the responsibility of EVERYONE in a society to care for and help each other (part of my Christian beliefs - "we *are* our brother's keepers"), and people did much more of that type of charity work "back in the day". So, I tried to do my part through A-phi-O. Of course, I've greatly simplified the arguments here to conserve space, but I think that is the underlying truth of the matter. I also lived in (but didn't join) Theta Chi fraternity my Sophomore year. This was a true social frat, and I could tell you some really good stories if you want, including how my roomie and I came to live there in the first place (it was unplanned). But, they were some of the nicest guys I've met, and through them I learned how to party and cut loose a little bit too. When I went back to Gannon University to get my second degree (in Math Education), I did more stuff with A-phi-O and joined Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity. Some really good stories with those Sig-Ep guys, not many of which should be published on a forum kids can read. ;D Sorry so long a post for answering such a simple question...

I belong to lots of service groups. All the sororities I belonged to were the service or honorary kind. No social ones for me:
Kappa Delta Pi - Educational Honor Society Phi Sigma Iota - Foreign Language Honor Society Mortar Board - Laurels Chapter Sigma Tau Alpha - Rainbow Girls Sorority and Golden Key National Honor Society
I agree with you about the service. I am apalled at the apathy of today's generation. I always thought that there would be no need for roadway clean-up if everyone threw their trash in a trash can when they got out of their car, or took it out of the theatre with them and threw it away on their way out.
No one wants to join fraternal service groups these days. We are really hurting for membership.
In parents generation everyone knew everyone else's business and the community took care of each other.
PS my cousin went to Gannon - she lived in Erie for awhile. She got married in the church that is right there in the middle of the college.

So...after reviewing this thread has it been decided what this years Story is to be? King Arthur? Pirates? Scantily clad Geeks..er...Greeks? A large wooden rabbit parked outside the Shire Gates? I know most of us will probably have our own story going on in our little minds...but what about all those poor unimaginative Mundanes who wander into the Shire? They need as much help as possible!!
