I could be wrong, but I don't think it was because he was told not to come back...I think it was his choice not to come this year since Danielle decided not to come. He will probably go where whe goes, or visa - versa. I think that is the situation.

Welllllllllllllll I'm not too sure of that.
I e-mailed Brook yesterday about possible times for the classes. I await his approval.
We suggested 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm. This is good for the faire and us as it avoids conflicting with some of the other main draws thereby keeping everybody happy!
Hand and a half sword, single short sword, double short sword, and dagger.
We will run beginner and "addicted" classes simultaneously.
Rumor has it the Ladies of Wessex are man hunting in the land of the Minotaurs this summer.
I hope to be at the GLMF the weekend before the faire starts to begin setting up our area. Tent, cold water and such for cast, day care, training areas, and even private training areas for those who really need a fix.
Any questions? Comments? (not that I care)

BK, why bother with being optimistic when you've got pessimistic down soo well?
FYI - Danielle's parents started their own dotcom several yeras ago. They've done so well with it that they are ready to retire after just a few years. Dani and Will have removed over half of their yearly show commitments to go to California to learn the buisness and take over for mom and dad.
They have been presented with an oportunity to do what many of us only dream about...Own and operate thier own multi million $ company. They will be by to visit us at some point this summer, so be happy for them and congratulate them for their good furtune.
Or you can be like some disgruntled people and continue to blame TPTB for every percieved wrong. Even when there are no facts to backup those perceptions.

AAAHHHHHH I can smell the testosterone. Maybe I see things from a strange point of view but lets let this year take care of itself. Live by the sword -die by the sword. All that really matters is that people get to come in, get beat with sticks, get drunk, come back to the front, get beat by the sword school again, go to final sing, and leave completely broke! Given the chance, SWORD SCHOOL WILL ROCK!

I am pessimistic about the decrease in cast size. The large cast size has always been a successful formula. Larry's budget cut excuse is an old business jargon for "I just want to make more money", so lets just cut cast and staff and God knows what else. Actually, most of the cast is volunteer and doesn't get paid. In fact, most of us have to pay for our own costumes. So I don't think the decrease in cast size is due to budget issues... a decrease in procast size maybe (though isn't pro cast the same size as last year?), but the decrease in volunteer cast (which is the bulk of the cast, maybe 80-90% of it) wouldn't be to budget cuts, I don't think. Probably due to people not returning for various and sundry reasons?

Why am I opening my mouth again? I had hoped this was all behind us and we could move on, but I guess not, so I will speak once more.
There are no 'sundry' reasons for the cast size. From my knowledge, which comes from someone inside the cast right now – not one of the outcasts, or the hangers-on who departed because of the removal of certain personnel – it’s because they hate what the faire has become, what the cast has degraded to, and because of the way some people have been terribly mistreated (and I still do not refer to the exiled members of the cast).
Black Knight has every right to voice his concerns, and for his support - his absolutely unconditional support - we cannot thank him enough. Or praise him enough. I gave up this fight because I was tired. He has had the strength to continue the effort to make it known what he feels has been a grievous injustice. It doesn't matter whether there was an injustice done, it doesn't matter who was wrong and who was right. He has stood up for his friends and that, more than anything else in this world, is admirable.
Brook, to get on here, and publicly make a spectacle of Black Knight that way, was unprofessional and just plain dumb. If you are right in all that you have done, and he is wrong, then let the insult fall without harm. But you haven't. You got back on here and made a really rather not-smart and defensive comment about one of this Festival's primary and longest fans. Do you know how many friends he has in the circle of season pass holders? Do you care that you have just insulted one of the people that you are supposed to be serving as an entertainer of this Festival? Has it not occurred to you that other people looking at this faire may have a lower regard for its management because you got up here and insulted a regular everyday patron? So I am officially admonishing you – and this time it is without the vulgar personal insult I used before. This is not a judgment, this is not a rebuke, this is not retaliation. This is common sense.
You would think that a complaint would be better handled by personal and private communication. But I guess that history has proven that you are incapable of that. You redress an entire cast because of the behavior of one person, you dress down the entire compliment of your independent acts because of the stupidity of one loud-mouthed bodhran player (and he wasn’t even there), the publicly insult your patrons, and then discard offending employees without even the courtesy of a phone call. I guess that you aren’t the great communicator after all, so it should be no surprise you would do this.
I understand that Richard went to you and apologized? At least, that is what I gathered from the information I got from my source in your cast. I guess he was the bigger man after all, and that is not meant to be a slight at your height, sir. Not like Nelson made.
This year will be your litmus test, Brook. If it fails, there will be no one to blame for it except one person. Let's see what this year brings. If it's successful, I will be the very first person in line to congratulate the man who made it happen. If not, then the truth will be known. I’m tired of this. Settle this. Either put your money where your mouth is and deliver the product, or stop opening it and getting yourself in deeper.
Now, with that said, why don't we all just shut up and let it happen. I for one expect to kick back with sufficient libation to watch the spectacle unfold.
PS – Brook, is it true that the feast for this year has been cancelled? Just curious.

Brook, to get on here, and publicly make a spectacle of Black Knight that way, was unprofessional and just plain dumb. I really don't think there was that much 'spectacle' there. Besides, Joe is pretty good at taking care of himself Joe and Brook have a history of sparring, and that is no secret. As far as unprofessional, that doesn't really apply here. On the GLMF site - yes. At the faire itself - yes. But as far as I am concerned, here, Brook is just one of the regulars. He can 'let it all hang out' if he wants. The man doesn't have to wear the ED hat all the time. (though his official news postings are a plus) I for one am glad that he did post the information publicly. Now we all know the reason for their not returning.

BK.....I agree(not that it really matters) with Trevor. I really don't think what Brook said was that much of an insult. I think he was just letting out what he has been feeling. Like you said, you have the right to say what you do, and in his defense he has his right to say and feel his way. On another note, let me just say not many people here except maybe me(for reasons I don't want to go into) can honestly say this.... "You don't know both sides" You're coming from a place where you only know the hurt from one side. Trust me.....the hurt and pain..... it went both ways with SOME of the people you refer to. Yes....many people have been hurt...more than you know...but not just those 6 people. Some very innocent people. Infact, SOME(not all) of those 6 people have dished out some hurt as well. To Brook and others. We are all human and with fault...including me. I know I've dished out my share of hurt I'm sure. Sometimes we are sorry and well, sometimes not. I guess what I want to say is...BK, I know you might think Brook did all the hurting, but that is simply NOT true. not ALL of it...that went both ways...with some. Maybe you can cut him a little slack knowing that.....well, at least on that issue

As for Brook publicly insulting me, that's alright. I have thick skin (I'm married...it helps) I take it your better half doesn't read the posts here ;D
