the animals are one of the other reasons I love stopping by so much. They've always got a cat, or something with them, and I love animals ^_^

What she said!!! ;D We Goddess' have had beasty water available for years now, as well as the odd biscuit, and even carrots for Olive's boys. Can you tell we're all animal lovers!? And again, as Jaz said, we love to babysit as well. Gives us a perfect oppourtunity to meet all the 'furbabies'! ( Rowan - one of my 10 cats !!!- tells me here that if I'd just stay home with him, I wouldn't need to see other furballs. I belive he considers that cheating on him!!!) That's wonderful! I still think it would also be a good idea to have some sort of marking on the maps or in the brochure that tells the patrons where the watering holes are located. But at least we have them! Thanks for caring enough for the furbabies to make it available!

For the dogs: Black Ox Cottage has added a doggie rest area this year. "A Hounds' Haven" is a shady enclosed garden with a water bowl, dog bed, toys, and brushes. Free to use, though tips are appreciated. Olive is making her own dog cookies and offering all-natural dog food in single servings with paper plate for sale.
Now you and your pup can snack together. Or take home a doggie bag of Olive's dog cookies to the faithful friend you left at home.

I think I should add up here another danger of heat: Sunburn.
Mine's as red as a cherry (literally.) and it hurts like hell, because I was a moron and forgot sunscreen. Don't make the same mistake.
Thanks to the Pickle Goddesses for the lovely lemonade! It is much tasty.

In my years of both faire and military, I learned a little trick when it comes to hydrating. If you are not using the bathroom every hour of so, you are NOT adaquately hydrated. I drink about 2 gallons of fluid a day. Most of it water of Gatorade, but I won't lie. I do have the occasional caffiene drink (thank you Pipers Pub) If for no other reason than I simply like how it tastes. Oh, and it helps me keep up with my insanely high energy character. If you start feeling bad... STOP! get to the shade. Drink some water, eat a banana (they are great when you feel heat sick, in my opinion) Just chill out, but be sure to tell someone! We can't help you if we don't know! Heat is nothing to fool around with. In this heat, with these costumes, you have got to remain aware of your body and what it needs. Just use common sense. No one will be mad at you for taking a few minutes to hydrate.

I have to say thank you.
You saved me both days this weekend.
Saturday after the parade, then twice Sunday when the heat was just too much.
Normally I'm fine going to pipers for yummy rasberry lemonade mixed with wizards wine, but sometimes that's too much and I need water, and that's when I go to you.
So, thank you again.

I would also like to congradulate the cast for surviving this first weekend. Saturday was hot, but Sunday was just horrible. I heard of no cast members requiring the services of the first aid workers. I know one went down, but that was due to medical issues that already existed. (BTW I hope he is doing well, and will be able to return to our shire) Another had a little trouble during parade, but knew enough to stop, drop out, and take care of himself before it got too bad. It's a good day when I don't see or hear of cast in the 1st aid tent. We cannot enjoy your company if you are too ill to perform. So even if you want to push yourself, think first, and be smart. You all have some gueling shedules this season. Take care of yourselves.

I think we need to ask Larry to turn off the exterior thermostat at the Faire...totally not needed during the summer IMHO....

Shame on you, dear, next time ask me for sunscreen, I always have some on hand. Sort of absolutely necessary for those of us with very fair skin.

A not so gentle reminder to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES!
Most on cast are doing a good job of, eating, hydrating, and not pushing themselves too hard in the heat. Others aren't being all that smart. Don't take chances with your health.
