we don' need ur drama mama!1
lol RITE?
---
In all seriousness, though..
I've read numerous threads, this being one of the only times I've been on the boards (I'll probably be on more often now), and more often than not I see nothing but negativity.
Every place will have it's drama, it's people who do not get along. That is unavoidable.
The GLMF, however, is different; The all-star crew (not necessarily cast -- many returnees contribute much more than some cast (lol parenthesis inside parenthesis <-- see I just made drama)) is an amazing unit. The fact that there are at least 50 people readily recognizable by name and face to me is something you do not come across that often.
So, Larry owns the faire. Larry has owned the faire long before I started working there; and besides whatever drama may or may not go on that goes through the grapevine, I still return. Others still return. Apparently, numbers are up. Numbers is all that matters to Larry, and if they're up, then he's happier, and in turn everyone else is happier.
So, John won't be returning. Okay. Will that stop Frank and Eric from showing up? No. Will that stop Trevor and Brittany showing up and taking approximately 7,439 pictures every year? No. Will that stop the tight-knit group of people that has bonded thru numerous major staff changes from returning? No.
I guess the point of this post is this;
Larry may own the property, but *WE* own the faire. *WE* are the driving force behind this powerful machine.
Some good friends and mentors have came and passed, but a few branches off a great, beautiful oak is hardly anything to go wild and crazy kids about.
that is all.

if you think numbers are all that matters to Larry, then you DON'T know Larry or what he goes through to open this faire year after year

Intheknow....why do you claim to be in the know and yet remain anonymous?
All business owners care about the bottom line, Larry is no exception to the rule.

of course he does, I was just trying to say he cares about more than just the bottom line because as Eric said,
"Numbers is all that matters to Larry,"
which is totally false

Riddle me this, then;
were Larry to have two choices, which would you think he choose?
The first being removing all of the volunteer cast and having little to no street-work yet bringing in a substantially higher dollar amount.
The second being not doing that, obviously.
I would say it is fairly obvious, and that is not necessarily a choice that one should frown upon. Naturally everybody wants to have their perfect world, but that is NEVER the case for any owner of a business, or any employee, or any of us, period. Unless you're famous.
However, there is a certain amount of apathy/disregard for volunteer cast that tends to rub people the wrong way, and for good reason.
It is hard to criticize Larry, yes; it is an accomplishment in the world to run a successful business, be it a faire, a restaurant, anything, and that is worthy of some respect.

I know for a fact that Larry would love to have more street interaction. He loves the fact that the community and all those that love the faire get involved.
Larry isn't all about money which you seem to think he is. You obviously don't know him at all. If he were he surely wouldn't be doing the Medieval Faire.
All Larry cares about when it comes to money is to make sure the bills get paid and a little extra to help the faire grow. He works plenty hard enough when the faire season has ended to make sure he has the funds to keep growing, to pay the bills, and to open up the faire once again for the following year.

I feel i have to interject here because i have actually HAD this conversation with Larry.
actually I have had the chance to talk to Larry a couple times about this subject. he LOVES this faire. He loves the people who work there and the patrons. His first question to me both times i had this conversation with him was " so how do you think Faire went this year?"
Yes he is a business man and yes he does have concerns about the bottom line. what GOOD business man does not? think about it. why in the world would someone start something like the Faire if they DIDN'T love it? if you just want money theere are much easier ways to go about it.
ok I will get off my soap box now!!

you're not helping. please stop. all of you may think you understand but just please cut it out. this is not a place for you to bitch about drama just to start more. i don't understand why you wrote this here when you probably can blog about it somewhere else. i don't want to piss anyone off and if you have something to say to me personally send me a message but no one's helping this and personally i don't want to hear it itk or Eric. You may think you know Larry or Avaloch but the fact of the matter is unless you live with Larry or lived at Avaloch you shouldn't speak. and please don't.

Okay, Jinxy, holster that key board!
While, I don't agree for with all of what Eric SAID. However, he totally has the right to say it. And on top of that Eric DID live in Avaloch. During some pretty difficult years in the volunteer cast, Eric was there. Eric has a VERY informed opinion. But keep in mind it is an opinion.
I certainly don't agree with most opinions on here. However, when I "hear" "see" or "read" their side of the story, I'm like, "I can see how you would think that.... You're still wrong, but I can see you think that..."
This is not the pro-Larry, anti-Larry web board. This message board is at the pleasure of Trevor. Which is pretty sweet in my opinion (there's the o word again!), because we can be frank in our conversations without making the faire look like an un-realistic fantasy land or crap on gravel. And read what we "neigh-sayers" are actually saying. (Which is difficult 'cause most of us type the way we talk, which means that we imply vocal tone.) We look for ways that the faire can be more fun, not implying that it is the next episode on "Dirty Jobs".
PS Trevor, I can't get to "sign on and stay on" when I use my laptop. HELP!

Thank you Christy. I like to let everyone voice their opinion, weather I agree with it or not. I believe it is good to get different points of view. It helps to give everyone (faire staff, patrons, entertainers, etc) a bigger view of things.
And for what it is worth. I think 'guest' posts are just as relevant as regular member posts. Just because someone doesn't log in, doesn't mean they are trying to "hide" who they are. First of all, some people can't login, or create an account. For another, just because someone registers, doesn't mean that we know them. Ther are tons of ID's here that I have no clue who they are. So just because you see someone post as a'guest'. Don't write off their comments, or assume there is an ulterior motive.
Now, as to your login issues. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies?
