We had beautiful weather for opening weekend. Saturday was a bit warm, but not horrible. Sunday was excellent.
It was great being in the shire and seeing everyone. Catching up and visiting.
Of course, it wouldn't be opening weekend at GLMF if there weren't a few snafus.
And yeah, there were some annoying ones again.
Sadly, we are missing quite a few people this season. Both vendors and performers.
No Fool Hearty, which I never really watch their show much, but their presence is definitely missed.
No Broon, which means no end of day Slash/Broon show. Which is a huge loss as far as I am concerned.
I did catch the Knotty Nauticals show. It was entertaining. Though I have no interest in watching it again, as the fire eating isn't really all that complex, and I've seen it done better. But the show is a nice addition.
That was really the only show I caught all weekend.
Was nice to see fairyland full of fairies again. And the kids seemed to be having fun.
The dragons are a nice addition.
Sad that Gilded Lilly isn't there this season, but they had personal issues to attend to.
I'll wait until next weekend to see how many other vendors return now that Kentucky is over.
Nice to see some new buildings in the shire.
The 3 new music stages are a very nice addition.
Most of the drink locations have new structures as well. Not sure how I feel about that, I kinda liked the old setup.
And the buildings for some of the vendors over in new world were also nice to see.
I'm still undecided on how I feel about the bare wood on all these structures though. In some ways, I like it, in other ways, I wish there was some paint added.
I was very disappointed to see Weiners Gone Wild not return.
Yes, I know there is a similar stand right across the lane now, but I don't care for their combinations.
And I really loved WGW.
I suppose change is inevitable. Especially at faire. But it's nice to have some things stay the same.
