Glad things worked for you two. It sucks not having a vehicle.
Hey Trevor living that close to the lake do you have a wood burner. I know I would need one.

Hey Hepz... I see you are on the board. So while we are talking cars here how is John doing with that one you have that needed the new cylinder head? Has he gotten it into the garage yet and begun repairs? Just curious. HANK.

Yep.
None of those problems. And I'm not even going to worry about it anyway.
Just want to keep the car going until I can get some money together to buy another one anyway. I already knew this was going to be the last year for the Skyhawk. Just too much of it is rusting away.

Hepz...I know the weather down your way is a bit better then here. I mean, I seem to be the only one with 2 inch's of snow on the ground. But, the last four weeks have been kinda chilly, no? So do you really want a big huge hole in your living room with all that cold air blowing in while John fits up a new door? BRRRR! I think I would wait till much warmer temps roll around. HANK.

Trevor... What happened with your son's car? I thought you laid claim to that when he went off to the service. That one seemed pretty nice if I remember right. HANK.

He is driving it. He's been home since November, and has a job, so I relinquished the car to him when I got the skyhawk going again last month.

Trevor, Glad you got that car of yours goin' again! I've been following your progress. You've got to love those engineers who instead of connecting a wire to the terminal it goes to .....which is 2" away from it ....take it about on a 50 foot journey around up and down through the trunk, up the headliner, down through the dashboard, out the firewall only to...............YES....end up right back where it came from!!!!!!!!! AT one time...I Loved working on cars.......That was a long time ago! Now like you.......I think they SUCK! Allyn

Trevor... He's been home since November? you mean like for good? I know I'm getting old and senile and suffering from CRS (Can't Remember Shit!) but it doesn't seem like that long ago you had posted somewhere on the board that he was going off to the service. My God, how time flies when you're comatose! HANK.

OK, I see why I'm confused. I thought he had enlisted in the regular Army. I'm thinking, damn, that must of been the shortest enlistment on record. Now it makes sense!
I'm kinda curious. What color was the wire from the air intake that you spliced into? The book shows a TAN wire going to the Intake Air Temp. Sensor. Was that the one? I thought it might be good to know in case I need to make a similar repair on something at some point.
Speaking of wiring problems. Today I think I will replace the tail/brake light sockets on my 1987 Dodge Diplomat.I have like 3 lights per side, or I should say I am suppose to have 3 per side. But the driver side has only one and the pass. side has two. The sockets are kinda funky with corrosion and such. I bought new sockets months ago, I just never got around to installing them. I guess I better, cuz if that lone one on the drivers side goes out the next thing ya know the damn cops are pulling you over.
I'm glad you got yours up and running again. If you or anyone else for that matter has a car problem, well, post it here and if I can offer any advice I'll try and help.Keeps me on my game. And if anybody is wondering, I've got 50 years experience working on cars, and was ASE certified at one time, years ago, before I quit doing it for a living and took up truck driving. I don't claim to know everything, but I have a pretty large library of repair manuals and can figure out most things. HANK. The medieval Click & Clack.

The wire could be called tan. Looked more brown to me, but my color judgement hasn't always been the best either.

ALLYN...Let me tell you another fun thing about car wiring. Do you know you need at least FOUR hands to disconnect most plug in wire connections? You need one hand on the North side, one hand on the South side of the connector pulling them apart. At the same time you need one hand on the East side and another on the West side of the connector to release the damn locking tabs holding the two halves together. I don't know about you, but I always seem to be two hands short. I've always thought if they perfect this genetic engineering stuff they can make auto mechanics with two arms and two tentacles. Kinda like "Doc Oct." in Spider Man. I think that would be damn handy
I ran into that problem today working on my tail lights. Not only were the sockets bad but the plug in connector was kaput also. So after I replaced all the light sockets on the driver side they still don't work correctly. So I pull the socket apart and low and behold a couple of the pins are corroded off. Well, I just cut the connector out and soldered the wires together. So, one side is done. I'll start on the other side tomorrow. HANK

I hear you Hank. Another wonderful thing, is that when you work on them when it is cold, the plastic tabs tend to snap off instead of just flex when you take them apart.
