Ok. Think I have some poison ivy in my hedges. I know there is some kind of ivy in there. And every time I do any weeding or trimming in there I end up with a couple spots that kind of blister up and itch. Nothing major, but I want to get rid of this crap.
I know Bunnie told me, that bleach will kill it, as that is what they usually use at faire. But what I need to know, would that kill the hedges? I mean, does it just kill everything in the area?

I agree with Bunnie. Bleach is a pretty powerful chemical, and it will probably kill everything, the ivy, the hedge, any grass around it, you name it. Go with the Round-Up.
Bunnie got into some poison ivy at faire with the weed whacker a short time ago. God, was she a mess, poison ivy all over her. It was so bad she had to go to the doctor for treatment.
HANK.

You might also be reacting to the hedge itself. If it is just raised and a little itchy it can be from getting poked by the hedges (more common if they are evergreen types). If the spots turn into sores and blister or weep fluid it's poison ivy or oak. Either way the new round up formula will kill the ivy just spray it directly on the leaves as per the directions and do it on a day with no rain forecast.

Thanks. I am finally starting to win the war with this crap. Turns out, I had a whole lot more than I thought I did. Seems, since the hedge has been cut way back, the ivy has been getting enough sun to really flourish. (that, or it just started to take hold and is taking off) Been successfully fighting it back and getting it under control.
It's a oain, but not nearly as bad as the battle I have been waging with the bamboo since last summer.

I always have poison ivy at my place,---and it's stand-up cousin : poison oak ! I think the best time to get rid of it is in the very early Spring before it gets it's re-surgence !
I've heard if you get a sharp knife and hack it off at ground level,---then pour bleach on it....
