In memory of the Pickle Goddess

[Poison Ivy]

This is Poison Ivy, aka Shari.

My dear, good friend Kathy has crossed over into the Summerlands. Most of you know her as Dillasandra the Pickle Goddess. You also know she has been ill, and going between the hospital and the nursing home for several months now. On September 3rd, she went into respiratory arrest.. They tried, but they could not bring her back.

She wasn’t at the nursing home when this happened. She hated the nursing home, and, for reasons I will not go into now, truly despised Metro hospital. She insisted they release her, so on August 13th, she came home to her cats. She was so happy to be home with her “kids” again. The cats were happy to have “mom” back home, too. So was I. I just wish she had gotten to stay with us a little longer.

I would not wish her back into pain and suffering, but I do miss her terribly. I’ll see a cartoon or hear a joke, and I’ll think, “I have to tell Kathy that---she’ll love it.”

Sadly, I remember I can’t.

Before she went into the hospital, Kathy told me that if the worst happened, she DID NOT want any kind of memorial service to take place at the Halloween party. She mentioned this to Kat and Dave (Beer Blessings) too. They are planning a memorial service for her later in October, (I’m sure Kat will post the details later) but Kathy most emphatically did not want anything done at the Halloween party. If you were truly her friend., please respect her wishes.

She also begged me to take care of her cats---although she needn’t have bothered. They will have a home with me until the time comes for them to run across the Rainbow Bridge and join their mom.

Hello All,

I am still in shock over our Goddess passing over. She was the very first person Princess Emma and I met when we started going to Faire. Although I know she is smiling down upon us all, I am happy she is not in pain anymore. Both Emma and I still remember the smile she always had and how nice it was to always stop by the pickle grove to see her and talk a bit with her. Dillsandra was and always will be a shinning star, she was a breath of insperation for us all. Evan in the last year or so, when her health started failing more, she still kept her spirits up and was worried about the pickle grove this year. Princess Emma has asked that we all take a minute out of our busy day and send a thought up to the nicest Godess there ever will be. <PAUSE>

May Dillsandra's thoughts always be in our heart.

It is still a sad day but in our haste to remember Dillsandra, there is yeat another who needs our prayers and thoughts of comfort. Poison Ivy (Shari) you have been there for Dillsandra when she needed support the most. My thoughts go to you as well and Princess Emma and myself off you our heart felt condoliences too. I am sure Dillsandra is standing right beside Stephanie and smiling down upon you since her kids ( the cats) will now be with their second Mom ( You). Thanks for all you have done and will do in the future. Nothing can replace the love we all have for Dillsandra, but knowing she is not in pain anylonger is a help. Princess Emma sends her love and blessing to you as well. She told me," I will miss that Pickle Lady Godess" she was soooo coll" There from the mouth of babes...she is so right.

I am deeply saddened by this news.

I took the liberty of adding a picture to your post, so anyone who doesn't know Kathy will know who we are talking about.

I was completely floored when I read about this.
I knew she had been having difficulties, but I had hoped she was finally turning the corner when she got to come home.
At least she got to spend some time at home, and with her 'kids'.

She was always so wonderful and such a kind person. words alone cannot describe my condolences to Dillasandra and her friends and family. may we all carry those memories of her with us wherever we go, whatever we do. Rest in peace Dill, all of Avaloch will miss you.

Avaloch will surely be a bit different now that she has passed on, but her Spirit shall be with us always. May her memory be eternal.
