Well pirate weekend has come and gone. A little odd this year. Usually the place is packed, but I think the weather kept a lot of people away. Also, not nearly as many pirates as in seasons past. Guess the POTC craze is dying down a bit now. It was great to have Mitch and Eric back for the weekend. Made things seem so much better knowing they were about enjoying themselves. It was also Owain's last weekend Glad the rain stopped for the final song on Sunday. Saturday was just kind of blah most of the day. Weather couldn't decide if it was going to rain or not. Sunday started out with a flurry of stuff. Everyone was excited, wound up, and having lots of fun. Then about halfway through the day it just seemed like someone put on the breaks and everything just seemed to slow down and loose it's energy. At least that is what happened with us, and most of the people we talked to. Hoping with better weather this weekend things will get back to normal. That, plus bagpipes playing around the shire should liven things up a bit.

Usually by the third weekend, play trons show in droves-must be the down turn economy this year..
I long to hear those fabulous pipes playing ALL WEEKEND long...And oh all those glorious knees and legs forthcoming!
Cannot believe we're @ the mid point:(

I don't think it is the economy so much. I still think it is the weather, and the weather forcasts. Remember they were even calling for hail storms this past weekend. People are more cost concious, so I am sure they are trying to save their visit to faire for a day that they can enjoy the entire day.

True, not as many scallywags staggering around the Shire this past Pirate Weekend and a definite noticeable "quiet" since the Barbarians were not here (Gustave, we're thinking of you and sending good mojo your way!)
It always feels like it takes about 3 weekends before "the danes" catch on about the Faire tho' I have to say, this is the most I've heard it advertised (another radio spot at 6:44AM on WDOK this morning)..but it did seem more populated on Sunday. Rarely do you get a crowd for the first act near the Stagger Inn.
The weather I'm sure had something to do with it as well (for the faint of heart!)
All in all, a good weekend and I was pleased that Sir Black Fox enjoyed our Faire. Can't wait to see the write up!
On to Celtic Weekend!

I think it was the weather forecast. I've learned to ignore it for the most part. If I had heeded the warnings we would have stayed home on Saturday. Weather will do what it will do. We braved the forecast and had all of the kids there on Saturday, which did seem kind of slow, most likely the T-Storms forecast, but we only had a few showers. And we spent them in the tent with Porter and Stout. All in all a good day. Sunday we came in a bit late and had to park in the overflow parking lot. Never have had to park there before. Did seem busier on Sunday. Which ironically was a little worse weather than Saturday, but the forecast had originally been better. Over all it was a great weekend. We had a lot of fun and are looking forward to being back again for Celtic Weekend.

The 'new extra spicy' pickles were BEYOND awful, but we had a great deal of fun at their expense! Fortunatly, I've been told that we'll be back to our regular dills this weekend. Whew!!!

I have to agree that it seemed slow on saturday, but certain Cleveland forcasters were actually telling people to cancel outdoor plans. I hope the current forcast holds for sat. A lot of people base thier plans on it. Weather turned out pretty good compared to what they thought. I however use the indian weather rock. Never fails! ( if it is wet it's raining, if its swinging its windy, if its white it is snowing...) Sunday I arrived at around 2:30 and had to park past the pond behind the houses by the road, and people were still coming in! Can't compare it to the morning but it seemed lively to me. I know the glass blower had a nice turnout for the afternoon demo. As did Owen. Well heres to high hopes for Celtic weekend. My favorite of all. Larry's chicken, bagpipes, archery... can't wait.
P.S. Cap't I second the well wishes to Gustave. (sent with good mojo)

Mhmm, I've hated the weather this year. I suppose it could always be worse, but...I would love some real sunshine. This Saturday it's supposed to be like 85 degrees and sunny, and Sunday there's only a 30% chance of rain. Should be a good time. Plus, I <3 bagpipes and kilts. Huzzah .

Can't compare it to the morning but it seemed lively to me. I know the glass blower had a nice turnout for the afternoon demo. As did Owen. Yeah, the shows seemed to still have good crowds, but there wasn't much interaction in the streets. In the morning people were much more playful and 'into it'. By afternoon it was more like people were just moving from show to show, with little regard for anything inbetween. I talked to a few vendors that agreed. They said it was near impossible to even pull people into the shop, let alone get them to open their wallets. I think it was just one of those different types of crowds. I'm kind of spoiled and used to having more playful and fun crowds on pirate weekend.

I'm looking forward to Celtic Weekend.
I TOO LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those MEN IN KILTS (Sigh !!!)... SOMETIMES, ---(WHAT am I THINKING !...ALL THE TIME!!!) I can't keep my mind on MUCH ELSE but the graceful kilts swinging around those brawny legs. And, if they have broad shoulders too !!!...
Well, --- I DO like the bagpipes & the Celtic activities ALSO !
...As to the action in the lanes--- me & my daughter Jess try to Bellydance as much as possible to the Music there ( AND,---especially at he Stumble Inn). Actually, we find it hard to stay seated when "Circa Paleo" plays !!!
I hope this weekend finds a lively crowd at the Faire.
Looney Lucy & Giacomo are always at the Entrance playing their music & joking with the people as they come in. We always stop to talk with them, and dance and jingle a little to Lucy's frame drum and Giacomo's flute.
Broon and Wonderfool are usually at the Entrance too, to liven things up. And, the Cast Musicians playing their various intruments....
...Hope to see everybody there this Weekend !
(My son Josh, the Black Fox Pirate, or "Link" the Elf -Mute, will be trying his Luck at Tossing the Caber, and my daughter Jess, the Tiny Dancer, will be Swishing & Jingling ! )
