Ok, guys. Lets hear what you thought about Celtic weekend. (none of the trustee stuff though)
It was nice to have some real pipe bands in the shire. I liked both groups that were here this weekend. Sunday's group seemed to enjoy the place as I saw them walking about and having fun towards the end of the day.
The weather was great Saturday, and the crowds were large. Sunday started off worse, but was beautiful later on. Sunny and cool, with a nice breeze.
My wife enjoyed her visit on Saturday, and had fun meeting some of our friends. Though all the walking was a bit much for her, and wore her out. We were home by like 6 PM. Sunday, we missed pub sing, as we were down in old world. So, I have to ask. What is our closing song, now that Owain has left?

I LOVE ALL THOSE PIPERS & DRUMMERS !!! WOW! (I think there were 8 pipers Sunday !)
And, ---the "Sword Dance" was OUTSTANDING Sat. One of Scottish Girl Dancers was probably only about 6 years old. And, she WAS as good as the other 2 older girls ! I also loved the girl in black who did the Irish Dancing. What enthusiasm she showed ! I hope we can have these wonderful people back next year !!!
Of course, --- I love the Highland Games too ! (Especially the "Caber Toss"...)
I adore seeing all the brawny-types in their sharp-looking kilts ! (Yeow !!!...)
And, Dear Trevor--- the closing Song was "Health To the Company ", of course, ---sung beautifully by Barbriel of "Silent Lion". It always impresses me, all of us toasting each other in Love & Friendship. I NEVER, NEVER TIRE OF IT ...

Finally, a beautiful, sunny, DRY day! Man, was the faire packed. I got there around 11:30 and parked out in the boonies in the third lot. Glad to see the crowds, it's good for the faire. I hope it keeps up for the rest of the run.
Personally it was a great day for me as well. I brought my cousin's adopted daughter and it was her first faire. She's 16 and was adopted two years ago. This kid had a hard life. Her biological parents were drug addicts and she and her five siblings were abused and neglected. She suffers from ADHD, depression. and has learning disablities because of the years of abuse. Despite all of that she's bright and creative. She loves history, especially the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and was thrilled to go to a faire.
She was overwhelmed when we entered the gate, but in a good way. We caught a couple shows but she just wanted to walk around and soak it all in. She liked the bagpipes, Lady Ophelia's dances and people watching! From what I've been told she hasn't stopped talking about her visit, and wants to return next year with her mom and her dog Cody, all of them in garb! ;D
Trevor, Health to the Company was the closing song performed by Silent Lion. I like hearing them sing it, though the problems with acoustics seem to plague the pub sing yet again this year. The people standing toward the back didn't realize at first that they started singing the final song.

Allyn, I loved meeting you and your enchanted necklace-turned-python . Lol. Tough luck on buying things that change into animals, huh? I'm just sorry we didn't have time to chat longer; we were late for the joust! I love Celtic weekend...it's always my favorite. I'll miss hearing the extra bagpipes next weekend.

Health to the Company with Silent Lion and Porter & Stout minus Owain's verse. Although I thought the pub sing on Saturday was a little sparse with the acts.

My sentiments exactly my Queen. It was nice to meet and chat with however briefly. The life of a monarch is hectic.

You know what, crowded faire makes it impossible for me to find anybody anymore. I used to be good at it, but Saturday I managed to not find all 8 of my good friends. (Not that I had no fun with other friends)
I did run into an old friend from out of town I had no idea was going to be there not even 5 minutes after I walked in. we had not seen each other in over a year and he had gone and purchased something I had my eye on all season. (teach me to ponder instead of impulse buy)
To the handful of vendors who are leaving their wares under the eyes of their staff and heading to other realms early, you will be missed and I look forward to seeing you again next year. (or elsewhere in Tim's case)

I can hear a bit of PubSing from my Black Ox Cottage now that it takes place at Drift Inn. I must say that Barbiel's voice coming through the woods singing "Health to the Company" is riviting and mesmerizing! As weary as I was and busy to close up, I stopped everything I was doing and simply listened. Then I heard another voice--a man's--coming in with another verse--it was spellbinding! I know Owain is legendary, and "Health" is like his signature song, but Barbiel makes it spine tingling! She needs to be amplified more often and the depth of feeling and vocal texture she puts into "Health" is phenomenal. Huzzah Silent Lion!

I enjoyed Celtic weekend. Did not get to see the Highland games, oops. I could hear the pipes all over the Faire grounds. I enjoyed meeting Trevor's wife. I enjoyed "petting" the Python :-) The weather was pretty much perfect. Health to the Company sung by Silent Lion is beautiful!! We just need to get some more sound or something.

A special message to the cast....
Please do not let this stuff going on with the attack on Larry, the Faire and the vendors effect you or let it get you down. I have been a loyal faire goer for the past 6 years with my daughter Princess Emma. We will not let this happen. You all do a great job, just focus on that. You have brought us playtrons many hours of great entertainment. We Thank-you and wish you good weather and luck for the remaining weekends. I will be attending the meeting and have quite a few things to say. Just don't let this get the best of you. Long live our King and most of all Larry and the Faire.
Sir Michael of Mentor
P.S. Fellow Knights, I urge you to please stand by me and attend the meeting. The Faire needs our support and help. It is our quest to help the anyone in need. Thanks!!!!!

Well as most of my family knew I was not feeling well but the sun on Saturday seemed to help some but Sunday and the rain was just darn bone chilling for me but for the musical acts I was so drawn to them that I didn't care. Love to hear groups like the Rouges and such but I have to say I also like hearing the regimental sounds. And I to noticed a few were there when done enjoying our shire.
