Thank you all who came out and supported our cause. I would like to personally thank Larry Rabin for being our spokeman and I think he should find a new career in Law. Some of you got to experience the meeting, others sat outside and made our presence known. All in all everyone was extremely professional. I think we made our point, even though most of our questions were redirected or left unanswered. Ron Tamburrino tried his damedest to separate us and turn us against Larry Rickard. He did not succeed! Channel 3 news taped the first half of the evening and hurried back to the station to air thier reprt on the 11 o clock news. It was all in our favor. Let's see what comes of this. It was nice to see many non faire going residents on our side as well. Again,
On behalf of the Faire Thank You!!

Hey guys and gals.. I am home.. I was never actually inside the meeting, but I was able to listen to a few parts through teh window(s) in the very back.. I left around 11:00, and when I passed by just shy of 11:30, it was still going on. I'm not sure what time it finally ended... (Some of us were going to go to Best Friends, but when it was closed, we ended up at the Ashtabula Applebee's.)...
I have some notes taken by Robinson, and some taken by countessofmidnight.. Thanks to you both!!
And DAMMIT, I better be able to see this newscast from someone! I made damned sure I got ahold of at least 2 people to post on the boards about Channel 3 being there! Even though *I* didn't see it tonight, I hope to shortly.....
ANyway, can someone that saw the newscast let us know if the following (or something similar) was aired:
Channel 3 Reporter: "So, for the third time, while you were working, representing the township of Trumbull, arrested for trespassing and harassment?"
There were a few other good moments that I had heard or heard from others. But it's late, so I'll get to them tomorrow. Especially after I get a chance to review the notes taken by Robinson and Countess. Thanks to you two!!!

Well, some people will see the media attention and you may see a boost in attendance for two reasons:
1) Err? What's this about? Let's go see! (The rubber-neck effect)
2) Uh oh! It may shut down! Let's go again before we no longer have a chance!
But there's no way to know any increase in attendance is from this effect.. I expect an increase because we finally have good weather!!! SUNNY and 86-67!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, and wishing I could have been a fly on the wall at that meeting...don't they have to take minutes from the township meetings...and don't those have to be available to the public? I would love to get a look at those!

Yes, by law they are to provide this information. However, it was brought up at the meeting last night, and apparently it must be in writing. I am assuming they do not feel an email is considered in writing.....so best to support the USPS and mail your request.
Personally, I'd go with delivery confirmation, or certified mail........but I don't have the highest amount of trust in these people.

Thanks to everyone that came out in support in what is a personal and passionate issue to all. We made our presense known and made some new friends out of local residents. I believe collectively we outed the Trustees for self serving, vindictive, ***holes that they are. As for my part, I just did what I thought was right and hate people the pervert the law to suit themselves rather than the greater good. Life is hard enough sometimes let alone when people work against you. Now, we need those people who love the faire that live here in the community to continue the fight. I will still be a part of this process, but must return home or move onto my next show. Lets keep the faith and carry on wining over the undecided and the uninormed with facts, logic, and compassion.

Gosh guys - ya know Russ and I are here for ya! Besides, our trustees aren't very female friendly & I love to rattle their cages. Now, let me address this public records request question, another subject near and dear to my heart. I have argued with the three stooges about this many times and they have been informed of the applicable portion of the sunshine law. Here is my favorite FAQ as posted on the Ohio Attorney General's web site "Who can make a request for public records? Any person can request public records by simply asking for them. Usually, the request can be made in any manner the requester chooses: by phone, in person, or in an e-mail or letter. The requester cannot be required to identify him- or herself, or to explain why the records are being requested, unless a specific law requires it. Often, however, a voluntary discussion about the requester’s purposes or interest in seeking certain information can aid the public office in locating and producing the desired records." Here is the link www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/About/FAQ/Constitutional-OfficesAnd here is the entire 260 page document www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/getattachment/a911733a-f419-4352-9ba0-2b943f63ec90/2009-Sunshine-Laws-Manual.aspxThey really do think we are idiots! So my suggestion is to ask for anything you want as far as public records go. Written requests are only better because it's easier to prove you asked when they ignore you. I would think the list they made everyone sign that spoke last night would be a public record also. Sure was a new policy to me - never seen them do that before.

If someone is not given public records, what recourse does that person have?
People who believe they have been wrongly denied a public record that they requested can file a lawsuit, called a mandamus action, against the public office, and the burden will be on the office to show the court that any record that it withheld was clearly protected by one or more valid exceptions under the law. If not, the public office will be ordered to provide the record, and may be subject to a civil penalty and payment of attorney fees. The Public Records Act is a “self-help” statute, in that citizens who believe that the act has been violated must independently pursue a remedy, rather than asking a public official such as the Ohio Attorney General to initiate the legal action on their behalf.
Interesting. So the person refused has to pay attorney fees to get it rolling. A little prohibitive to the poor, don't ya think?
Heh.. Do you think the financial records dealing with litigation against the Faire is protected under those "valid exceptions"?.. I wonder....

I'm sure I'll mention it elsewhere but this did drum up attendance.
Hank and I both talked to many people out for the first time that had never bothered to attend because they saw the report and either... 1- had no idea the faire was here before 2- had known but no bothered and decided to see what sort of event stirred this much trouble. 3- had never attended but decided to because the press put such a good light on us.
Fisrt question I was asked in the parking lot saturday was "so where are all these"horrible people" in the wood at? This place looks pretty cool." Then they guy laughed and shook my hand.

The aftermath is, that we need to keep up the pressure. We have at least one candidate that we need to support in this November election. Russ (our very own 1st Aid guy)
I have no idea what type of support he may need, but even though I cannot vote, I will do what I can to help his campaign.

If Russ needs us to stuff envelopes and such all he has to do is post and we will be there. My one hope is that the media does pick up on the statement that the trustees will still try to close the faire even if voted out. That in itself states that this is a vendetta. That and I want to know who represented the trustees/township in these lawsuits? There are 2 trustees who are lawyers. Did they pocket the $60,000 as wages for representing the township? . How much of the tax payers money did they spend in all the prior years to 2008? All questions that need answered.

One trustee is a corporate lawyer for Sherwin Williams One trustee is an assistant principal for Lakeside School District One trustee (I think)works for Highland Heights The lawyer currently representing the township is one that was Tamburrino's co-council on a few cases he tried in 11th district court prior to becoming a trustee - nothing like using your political position to hire your buddy - anyone else smell at rat?

If you guys need any help with envelopes and such, let me know.
I know that Ron mentioned the current case and someone else told me there was a gag order on this same case, worth looking into maybe?

I would like to help in any way I can. I live in Morgan Township, just next door to Trumbull. Heck they use our post office. I can make up flyers and post at the local store and pubs and on cars if I need to. Many people from Trumbull township come to our store and pizza joints, as well as post office. So putting up postings on up coming election will be seen from many that have no clue. So I will design my own postings over the next wk or so but would like input as to what to post that is most profesional and apropiate in support of Russ to get voted in. Also a big sign in supprt of Russ to put on my front lawn (on rte45) for all to see. Being a stay at home mom gives me lots of time to help the cause, sooo please tell me what to do and I will do it. Have a Great Day:Stacy
