TO THE PEOPLE OF AVALOCH~
As we come to the last weekend of our beloved faire, my mind wonders back through all the years past, to all the wonderful moments that will live in my heart forever.
Never will there be a more truthful moment than when parting glass is sung at pub sing this Sunday. “For me may or might never all be here again” will be a reality, not just a concept. This weekend, let us all come together as one, love each other and remember all the joy that this magical place has given to us.
This momentum that has grown for saving the faire MUST continue beyond Sunday at 7:00pm, when the cannon blasts for the last time this year. It’s easy after faire is over, to go home and dream of next year. If you want there to be a next year, I encourage all of you to continue your efforts, to stay informed and involved in this battle and see it to the end. For those of us who live in Trumbull Township, this issue will go on, the meetings will continue and there will be elections in November. Trevor has posted contact information for the newspaper and television stations, the elected officials and the county offices/tourist sites. I encourage you to write to them and tell them what Avaloch has done for you and what it means to this county. Just please, do this in a mature, caring way without anger or insult.
So, let this weekend become legend, let this moment in time be one that will be talked about forever. Let us be a shining torch for medieval and renaissance faires the world over. Let us show the world how people from all walks of life, all backgrounds and beliefs can come together as one community, in peace and harmony. We truly are the people of Avaloch, we are not pretending here, we are a real community. Let us raise our glasses high and make our hugs long! I'll see you all tomorrow my dearest friends.
