Okay, guys, the Pickle Grove being in the back of beyond now, no one made it up there to cite us this past weekend. HOWEVER............I'm presuming that the same thing will be going on this comming weekend. And that they'll eventually make it up to our lane. So...... I've been reading all this stuff all week long, and, much as I love Faire and it's people, I'm telling you right now that I AM NOT WILLING TO GET CITED!!!! For starters, it's NOT my booth. MY pass says 'Entertainer's Pass. The agreement, for those who don't already know, is that Larry provides the pickles, I sell them, and, excepting gas and lunches, hand the money to him. We don't even technically get paid, so... I realize that that SHOULD exempt me/us, but judging from the weekend past, it won't! I CANNOT afford a fine, and I certianly can't afford to go to jail! I'd lose my job, just for starters. Hell, I couldn't even get to court. First time I've publically admitted this, but I can't drive anymore, excepting only a VERY limited amount, and even that's comming to an end. Lost control of my car twice this week, and came close a couple more. My driving days are at an end.....I barely make it to work and back, all of 3 miles, and no idea how much longer I can do that! I'm a hazard now as it is. So Ashtabula county??! RIGHT out! My question then, for whoever might be able to answer it is, WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO?!! ?! Anyone? I don't want to bail on you, it's my final season, and I'd like to finish it up. Suggestions, anyone?

I am on the butt end of faire so we havent gotton our citation yet either. I really do not think ANY of us would be offended if you did not show up. yes one of us would pick you up but still....We love the pickle grove and I do not eat pickles...but you are soooo sweet.
You bail,no one gets offended. Yet another personal reason for Larry to get pissed at jerkweed ron...I would call Larry and tell him would you so elequently told us.

Hey, Dill, I hear ya loud and clear. I was thinking many the same things. I suggest you talk to Larry or Cindy ASAP about what they are doing and what you are willing/unwilling to do. I know Larry will not intentionally let you take the fall; though it is impossible to predict what "the authorities" might do this weekend; they may come around trying to cite the rest of us, or cook up some new harrassments. Larry has said he does not want his volunteers and employees giving their names to authorities because HE is the owner of the business.
Larry said last week Cindy went with the deputy as citations were issued, she requested they be issued TO HER because she is the owner, and they were; and that they will do the same this week.
Not Larry and not me and not anyone has any expectation or pressure on anyone else to do one thing or another.
(I wonder how these citations to Cindy can stand in court because one person cannot be cited multiple times on the same date for the one "offense" of not having a township vendor's license for her business, just because the business has many "stands" around the property.)
Talk to Larry; and he and I and all your friends will respect whatever decision you make about your presence and activities at the Grove. Just be in Avaloch. That's what we all must do: create Avaloch and BE in Avaloch this weekend. (I mean BE there in our mind and attitude. When in Avaloch, we should not be preoccupied with talking and focusing on the conflict. We can do that Monday through Friday if we must.)
A foreign culture is laying seige to Avaloch:a culture of intimidation, revenge, and desire to destroy. Let us raise the ramparts of our minds to resist the invasion by continuing to think and act as congenially, respectfully, and cooperatively as ever. It is that congenial, respectful, and cooperative atmosphere that makes Avaloch so remarkable and enjoyable.

Just refuse to give your name... But it'd be funny to see a citation to "Dillasandra"!
Have a copy of 505.94, cite the definition of Transient Vendor, and say "I didn't set up this place of business."
If worse comes to worst.. Can you close up shop if the cops come near? Avoidance tactics and that.. You may just have to stay on the scooter for the day..

Dillisandra, If someone is able to alert me in the soap booth when they start giving out citations along your lane - I will gladly rush up for you to take a break and I will accept the citation. As a township resident I am appalled at the heavy handed techniques of our current trustees in their attempt to destroy our faire. Do not let this shadow your last summer at faire!!! Give me a heads up, or get to my crew at first aid & they will contact me by radio so I can get up there (bloodhounds in tow) in time to get you off on break and away from the mess.

Better yet, Dill, and not to take anything away from you, Chris - that was a nice gesture, for sure, but, I'm right down the lane from you, Dill, at EarArt, I don't own or run a business at faire, so if you send someone to get me, I'd be happy to come give you a break. Chances are, if they come to your booth, they'll be coming to EarArt, too, so...whatever, wherever! I'm there if you need me.

This way Shar can leave with you. Just let me know.

And by "Sharon", I'm sure Kat means me, Jezzy. . Just clarifying to avoid the cocked head and "Huh??". LOL!

Jezzy... I think KAT means SHARI/POISON IVY, the lady who normally works the pickle booth with Dill.
HANK.

So booth-sitting is the new community effort, eh? Hehehe..
If I wasn't a slow mover, I'd be glad to be a runner... Oh Miss Highlandcoo... Do you carry a cell phone that gets reception on site?.. even better if txt... Hrmmmm.. I wonder if we should start a "directory" of people at various spots to call with cop sightings..

See this is why I attempted to clarify. Kat said she would sit with "Sharon" so "Shar"(I)? could get away with Dill. LOL. Kat has always known me as Sharon. I knew that would get confusing, which is why I prefer going by Jezzy at faire. There are far more Sharon's and variations of said name than there are Jezzy's. Anyway, no matter what, Dillasandra, you and Shari will be covered, just send word that you need us...any of us!

"So booth-sitting is the new community effort, eh? Hehehe.. " Just remember "booth sitters" will probably still get a citation! The goal so far has been to cite someone in each booth regardless of their purpose for being there. As a township resident , I am willing to stand in due to my ability to plead not guilty & attend any subsequent court dates with much less disruption to my personal life than someone from out of the area. Anyone else willing to "take the hit" needs to consider their future availability if this thing drags on for months.

Actually, I think the pickle booth may fall under the auspices of being part of the food service owned by the faire proper. As has been mentioned, Larry provides the pickles and ends up with the money at the end of the day. The grove should fall under his license in that case.
Dill and the other two are either volunteers or employees (no idea of your pay status and I think it best you not mention it anyhow) As employees, any citation needs to be made out to the owner or manager at worst. I don't think you would ever see anyone writing citations for violations made out for the person working the counter at a fast food place if they violated a license and I would expect the same applies here.

Just stick with 'Jezzy' and 'Ivy' and we're good!
So. To my profound UN surprise, I've got backing to a Faire-thee-well here.....pun very much intended! How did I know that would happen? ( Oh, maybe 15 years experience in watching our Faire family support and care for one another no matter what. )
Anyway, thank you one and all. If you're willing - which you obviously are - and we can work it out so that someone is with me on the platform to hand out the pickles ( I'll stay on the scooter for a quick get away, since getting up and down off the platform is a major, not to mention very slow, effort ) then I'm in for the run.
Sorry to be making a difficult time even more so......just, my civil disobedience days ( and there were some grand ones! ;D ) are at a forced end, and I've no choice but to ask for help. Fortunatly, you all are the kind of folks I can ask it of. Love you for that.
We'll leave Cindy nd Larry out of it for now. If trouble results and I HAVE to ask, fine, but right now I'm sure they've got more than enough on their hands.
We can work out details Saturday. With enough eyes to keep watch, and enough volunteers to man the pickles, I'm sure we'll be fine. I can keep the money box on my scooter, so if we are forced to abandon ship, we can just run for it!
Jezzy, be prepared , I'm sure we can use you. And Highlandcoo, I'll absolutely be yelling for you too. ( And I get to meet the dogs to boot! ) Kat. Everyone. We'll make this work, and knowing Faire Folk, probably have a wopping good time doing so. ;D
I do want to make it clear, too, that Ivy is not leaving me to deal with this alone....not by any means. She'll be there, traveling, for the most part, on lookout duty. We really don't want her to take a chance on being cited for the very good reason that she works in a profession that requires extensive background and criminal records check, is currently looking for a job, and even something as utterly idiotic as this could seriously damage her chances. She's understandably not willing to take that risk, nor would I want her to! So, she'll be one of our lookouts, rather than actually on the platform. Much less risky that way.
This is all just so frigging silly and stupid that it makes me want to scream. Unfortunatly, we aren't being given a choice. So, if they insist on playing childish games, we'll play 'em right back!
Just do me one favor.......if you see me careening frantically through the Shire on my scooter, the cops in hot pursuit, reach out and trip 'em or something. That thing doesn't go that fast!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
