I have been reading the threads here and am greatly impressed with the organized approach you are all taking with attending the meeting, getting facts, etc. I will be rooting for you and anxiously awaiting feedback from the 8/13 meeting.
As a resident who lives lives in a Township in Pennsylvania, I am wondering what the current financial situation of the township is. Are they running out of money? Are they solvent? Any reserves? Is there a possibility that they may have to lay off police officers?
Is there a possibility the township, by pressuring the local police, are looking ways to get money for the township?
Just a thought from someone outside the local area.

Nah. The township would get the transient vendor license fee, but I don't think that is the point. These are the same people that tore apart and shut down their own volunteer fired department because they didn't like things the way they were.

There are no local police, local fire is no longer existant either (as Trevor pointed out). The majority of the township's needs are handled at the county level. The local trustees handle the expense of road maintenance on most of the side roads, whatever costs there are to maintain the grounds at the local cemetary, and very little else.
The issue is that we are butting heads with individuals that want to live in the most rural place they can and having outsiders come and visit bothers them. This is not all that uncommon a thing in very out of the way areas. Instead of embracing business, they chase it off in an effort to keep things small and quiet.
