Aloha everyone: If we may stop focusing on negative energies and perhaps the reason we enjoy these faires in the first place... The Entertainment!! (bad timing, I know) As some of you may know my brother and I are in the process of planning out a show. We have decided that we will put it on hold for now and I need a first "Official" year as cast anyway. We did agree to put the show on a 2 year plan. Of all the things we discussed about such as what we like, what we dont, why this show in particular is good , why this one is not... yadda yadda yadda... we did agree that it will be a 1]comedy show, 2]swordfighting 3]our theme is that we are dragonslayers 4]audience participation events we are stuck however on a name and other suggestions and since the people on these boards are clearly as passionate about the faire as i am; i want to hear straight from the horses mouth about what you folks like. Any suggestions, any "give em to me!!!" do keep in mind some of the directions we want to take this show is that we want fresh, different, and unique... so basically its open to suggestion "have at ya!"

Hrmm...
I'd be more impressed with a semi-serious stage combat show, with more situational humor than another set of one-liners with the "they're drunk and have swords! Who's gonna get hurt?!" bit.
But then the serious stage combat might take a lot more work.. And I dig dark comedies, and that's not exactly the biggest draw for the family-friendly crowd.
Heh, I have an idea for ya.. PM coming shortly..

Uh, if you want to be at GLMF, don't do drag. Larry doesn't like guys in dresses. That's one of the reasons why the Sword School wasn't at GLMF the past couple of years. Larry flipped a lid over the Ladies of Wessex. In fact, he turned the loveliest shade of crimson over it.
So, don't do drag. Seriously.

Certain people just don't have a sense of humor. The Ladies of Wessex was a hit with the crowd....that's all that matters.

Funny, he didn't seem to have a problem with Brook in drag as a rose girl last year. Now THAT was HYSTERICAL! ;D

I don't know Larry's thoughts about the rose girl. But I know John was definitely not pleased about it.

Ok so i havent been on here for awhile now but i see that my brother has already informed everyone about our show that we want...so heres the down low on that... ok we are aiming for our show to be very different than what everyone is used to. we will not be using beer in our show and with what trevor just informed i guess we will not be using drag either(sorry dan). Our goal is to be very family oreinted since i have yet to see a show that is like that thats been done by males, and also with our show instead of "claiming" to be brothers this time we actually are..we are going to be doing alot of really cool stunts so it wont be "just another sword fighting act" either. Our goal is to be different, and to give patrons and the actors a fresh new show with fresh new looks

I'm curious....what was John's problem with the rose girl thing....the crowd LOVED it.

Sword School's absence has nothing whatsoever to do with men in drag. Brook in drag made a certain someone angry becasue it was Brook and he was getting alot of attention. Again, had nothing to do with men in drag. And the Ladies of Wessex made everyone red in the face with hysterical laughter...........that's what they do!
So is drag a good idea? Maybe, if done properly and in small doses. For instance, if used as a diguise or to tell a story. Doing drag without a purpose is when it gets controversial

Okay, that would explain John, because, the more I thought about it, I seem to remember either him or him and Spence in some sort of drag durring some of the earlier Hack and Slash days.
