Just realized this subject hasn't been covered yet.
I want to give a big thanks to Scott (our new Entertainment Director this year) and the rest of the faire staff.
While there may be minor issues that we will quibble over.
You have to admit, opening weekend did not suck!
As a matter of fact, it RAWKED!
And as far as I can tell, the only 'major' snafu was there was no lemonade on Saturday. I heard of at least a few of the pop stands that didn't have any at all, And Piper's were having some trouble with theirs around mid-day.
Other than that, I don't know of any real problems.
And for those that don't remember, most of us can give a long list of things that have gone wrong on opening weekend over the years.
Just to hit a few high (or low) points.
Ticket booth not even selling tickets until after gate show started.
No programs at all (we may not like what we have now, but at least we have them)
(not exactly opening weekend, but ...) the 2nd weekend change to Larry-bucks.
What I am trying to say. In years past there has always seemed to be something that just put a downer on things for a huge amount of people right from the start.
This year we didn't have that.
And I think we should appreciate that fact.
Scott went out there, and got us a great bunch of entertainment.
He has gone out on a limb with a few changes. We will see how many of them work out long term. But at least he is trying something new. Pushing to try and make things better. To surpass what we have had before.
We have an awesome street cast o keep us entertained.
Yes, from all that I have heard, he was blessed with an awesome group of people to till that cast with, but it is still he and his assistants who shaped them and trained them to do what they are doing now.
We have a combat chess that kicks serious butt.
So, I just want to take a moment and thank everyone behind the scenes that pulled all this together for us.
