At ORF you had to purchase tickets for games only....I guess they don't trust the people running them.
I been to 5 different faires in the midwest and so far GLMF is the only one with Avaloch dollars. I don't mind it now. I have the sense to get my money early in the morning before the crowds. If it helps prevent theft, I am okay with it.
Hank...if Larry had to hire more trustworthy people, he would have to pay more and that isn't going to happen. And those working the booths at the GCF were Laura, Brook, Daisy...people that Larry has known for years and are trustworthy when it comes to running booths.

Ahhh...nothing is as sweet as digging out a fist of "Barney Bucks" one year later the morning of Faire and thinking "Ahhh...Pouch Score!"

I have never been to another faire besides GLMF that uses it's own currency. And to be honest, I have a great level of doubt as to the reason why it's in place. Dishonest employees handling the money? I doubt that. Seems to me like a way to make more money from the patrons. How many of those stupid purple backs do all of you have left over? How many does the general mundane public still have? Think about it. That' just my opinion of course. Pittsburgh does have locked boxes on top of the counter at the pub but I had thought it was for tips. How can you make change for a customer if the box can't be opened? I make sure to bring plenty of change (ones and fives) to faire. For drinks I head to Pipers. For food I may grab a muffin or something from Olive, and if I need to eat something more, I price what I want and get exactly that amount of Avaloch bucks, so I am never stuck with extra. Though, several times since they've started the bucks I've eaten a good meal right before leaving for faire (I'm only 10 minutes away), and just bought a snack from Olive to get me through til I get home. Before the Avaloch bucks I used to eat lunch at faire every day I attended, and many times I also had a snack and bought several lemonades and water. I don't do that very often now.

Well, from my point of view, most of us aren't friends. Much more like family.
