Ah, but there will be Peter Pan this year to entertain the little ones.

Michelle, you expressed how I/we feel about it exactly. It's the ambiance, the magical feeling of going back into the fae world that I was worried would be lost also!! Even though my guys aren't so young (I can't really say little, as they were never 'little' for their age) they still enjoy seeing the forest. I MUST see it, as I am fae--on my mother's side of the family, don't ya know! lol
I, too, will greatly miss not having a fairy queen this year! We so love her, but thank goodness she'll still be there. I remember when we had Sunny/Mitzi, or when she was just one or the other. We would fondly remember the good Sunny, even when she was Mitzi. I do trust that the crew that works so hard in our shire each year before we get to travel back in time there, will do an excellent job, as always though!
I just worry that if it's too close to the lanes, as we've said, it'll lose the magical feel you get going back into the fae world!

The problem is. Only a few people would venture back there. No matter how much it was promoted, people didn't want to go that far into the woods. And it's old location left it disconnected from the rest of the faire. I know, that was one of the things that made it fun, but if people aren't using it, then it really isn't fun for the fairies that have to stay back there in all the bugs being bored waiting for someong (anyone) to show up. I see the area being set up now getting used a lot. Kids and families will stop as they walk by to check things out, and to play. Which is the purpose after all. Hopefully it will be a big hit this year and things will be expanded a little deeper into the woods next season. Maybe with small steps, and growing attendance, someday we will be back to using the entire area that has been cleared back in there.

I tend to agree with Trevor. The area has been cleared for future growth as it is ready. Baby steps can work in this matter. I'm sure we will grow it as needed. For the parents who miss the Fae area, I think that there are plenty to be found in Ohio that feel inhabited to children who have good imaginations. I have no trouble imagining Fae right near my camping area. Is it my imagination? I'm not really sure. It certainly seems real to me. I think that is also true in many parts of our our magical area we call GLMF. Do you feel it?

We moved the stage around and cleaned out area closer to the lane and I feel it will work great to bring more interaction in the area.

While I am looking forward to many of the changes this year, the ones to Fairie Forest have me the most concerned. Our 6 year old adores Fairie Forest. But a huge part of the draw for her is the remoteness. She truly feels like she is going into a special, magical place due to the way it is set back from the lane. I hope the changes don't destroy the magic for her. And not having Queen Aurora will be so sad for her. I hope Brenda enjoys her new role, but a Fairie Forest without Queen Aurora? Yikes! Michelle Awww. I take it as a compliment that your daughter will miss the fairy queen. Thank you. I will certainly miss being Queen Aurora, but I am also really looking forward to being somebody new this year. In the past, when someone plays a new character and a patron asks where the previous character is, we would come up with some reason why he/she is not present in Avaloch that day. I have a feeling that the current fairy forrest characters will be able to come up with something for Queen Aurora. Plus, there will be some new and different things (as well as characters) that your daughter can experience in the forrest this year.

(I love warm fuzzies!) Me too, good lady!
Good sirs, I know what you're saying. It's certainly better that the area be used than not, for the sake of all the work you do getting it ready, and for all the good fae folks and others in the shire that call that area 'home'. It's just kinda sad to me when you have to 'spoon feed' a concept to people.
As you said, hopefully, the area will be revived, and can be revised if wanted/needed in the future--which I know we all hope will be long for GLMF. I do look forward to seeing the fruits of all you're doing to the shire soon! Thanks all!!

I am very excited about the change. I can't wait for the new shire and the new shows in the forest. I will miss Queen Aurora (My granddaughter's name by the way) but I am sure her new character will be just as loving and caring with the wee ones. (It just seems to be her personality.) cheers, Kat

Stephanieann, My daughter calls her Rory for short. She has 3 children: Adeleza (7), Rory (3) & Joaquin (10 mos.) I don't call him Joaquin. I call him Angeous (Gaelic spelling of Angus.) so we can keep the "A" names going.
