Oh, don't worry. You don't seem 'pushy' to me. Just adding another perspective.
I know how usefull nametags and badges can be. We wear them every year when we go to that convention in Louisville. It's the best way to meet new people from some of the online places I hang out.

Last year Dillasandra and I made badges/favors for all the cast members. We were going to do it again this year, but we were told rather abruptly (and rudely) that "we don't want those things for cast this year." So we dropped the idea, but we, or I should say Dillasandra had already made a prototype. We couldn't do leather badges this year (I didn't have the money) but we came up with a light colored shield on a dark background, made out of felt. If everyone wanted us to, we could make them for the board members (that just sounds funny! ) Instead of putting GLMF on the shield, Dillasandra could just put a big MM. You'll have to talk to Dillasandra about it, and she'll have to know about how many to make. (Trevor, I guess this is where you come in.) She'll be doing most of the work----she's the artist not me----my only contribution will be gluing on the pin backs. As I said, you'll have to talk to her, and if you wanted to see the prototype, she could bring it to Hank and Bunnie's Halloween party. I know she's going to be there. No, they don't. I don't.

I've been waiting to weigh in on this. You guys can try and do whatever you want. But keep in mind, that a lot of people aren't going to put a nametag on their garb. It just stands out too badly, and clashes with what they are trying to achieve. That is why most organiziations use pins or other such items to recognize members. Something small but identifies the person as a member of the group. Much like the RF pins for www.renaissancefestival.comTrue, but I'm sure we could figure something out that would satisfy most people. Just a pin wouldn't tell you who the person is. Oh, by the way, I do know Pirate Dave!

No, but the person could introduce themselves and tell you who they are. If you saw someone wearing the pin / badge / favor, whatever, you would know they're someone who posts on the board. It would be a way to spot other members. Get it now? If you want to slap a big, cheesy nametag on your garb, please feel free, but I'd rather not.
Well, f***ing goody for you!

Hi gang! Just a few more thoughts on the subject: Both Trevor and Poison Ivy have stated that a lot of people wouldn't want some big ole name tag stuck on their garb. Gee, why the hell not? most of you have every other damn thing stuck upon your garb from what I saw at Faire. We had paw prints and dog biscuits from the Pooka. Sheep with numbers on them. Pickle pins, from the pickle Goddess's, and God knows what all else I might have missed!
I think a simple paper tag (cheap, easy to mass produce) with the Medieval Mayhem Castle logo, like you see on the home page would suffice. Everyone from this board would recognize the symbol. You would not even need to put a name on it .
Let us say just for example Trevor were to make up a bunch of them. And I use Trevor only because I know he has the computer smarts to do it and he probably knows most of us on sight. So! Trevor gives a bunch of them to a bunch of us. Myself, Lady Catherine, Pirate Dave, Jasmine to name but a few, and we each wear one of them. So! a newbie, like xpunkgirx sees a person with one of these on, she walks up and says Hi! I'm so and so, who might you be? Then one of us gives her a tag, and so on and so on.
Poison Ivy...I am pretty sure you DO know Pirate Dave, at least by sight. You were both at last years Halloween party, and I am pretty sure you two spoke with one another. If you go to the Yard of Beer thread, page 3, reply #38. Dave is the pirate in the white shirt, with the black hat and coat.
Jinxy...yes luv, there is going to be a Medieval Halloween Party on Saturday, October 6th. I have a few small ducks I still need to get in a row, but I will be posting all the information, who, what, when, where, why, how come, what fur, etc, etc, within probably the next 72 hours. Unlike a certain Medieval Faire we all know and love, I don't believe in waiting till the last possible minute to get the information out there. HANK.

Isn't that what I was saying? I THOUGHT I was making myself clear. Just a badge that would identify the wearer as a member of the Medieval Mayhem board. Then other members could go up and introduce themselves or not as they pleased. NO NAME required. Unless you just want to scribble your name on it, that's up to you.
Saw those pictures. Don't know the man.

Hank, yes. By the end of the run we have quite a few favors from some of the cast that we wear proudly. but the difference between that and a nametag is that these items were given to us specifically because that cast member liked us, or wanted to include us in something. We wear them to show our appreciation.
And we aren't really the type that I was talking about anyway. I don't have any time invested in researching my garb, and I am not trying to impress anyone with it. But there are other people who do put a lot of time into their garb, and they aren't going to put any type of garish thing on it. Or in the case of cast members, they wouldn't be allowed to. While something that is small, simple, and subdued would actually be a possibility.

Okay, how's this? I can make, from felt, very cheaply and easily, small, subtle, yet easily recognizable badges that should hold up well ( sorry, Hank, I like the idea of the castle picture myself, but speaking from experience, paper would never hold up. Unless someone wants to laminate it for us..............?!) Failing that, tho, felt will last and should be subtle enough not to offend anyone. I have a shield design that works pretty well - nice and medieval.
What I can do is make up a couple for the Halloween party, let everyone there get a look, maybe Trevor could post a picture on the board.
As to distribution, since some members don't know ANYONE on sight, ( Xpunkgrlx being a prime example ), we could hand them out at fixed locations, my Pickle Grove, for instance, or Black Ox, with Olive's permission, of course. That way, anyone could go, get one, put their name on if they see fit, ( a couple of seconds with a marker ), and be instantly recognizable as a part of the board. Spot a badge, go on up and introduce yourself.
If that's acceptable to all, I'll whip up a couple for the party and we'll go from there. If anyone's got a better idea, now is the time to speak up!
As far as colors go, ( the badges will be two shades) if anyone has a prefrence, yell. If I get a lot of requests, the most requested will take it. ( Let the voting begin! )
Or just tell me to go away and mind my own business....that's up to you! ;D We've got plenty of time here, so no worries!

I think the badge idea is great. That does fit in better, probably, for most people than a big nametag. Those that wanted to do a nametag could also do that. Laminating would probably be a wise choice. It's not like we've never been caught out in the shire in the rain, eh!

Dill, Poison Ivy...I think the FELT idea is wonderful! Something like your "Pickle Patch" that you gave me at faire, only in the shape of the castle.
When I SUGGESTED paper it was only because whom ever steps up to the plate to do this needs a way to produce a lot of them at a VERY LOW cost! And while I have no idea how to do it, I know that you can buy blank name tags and print damn near anything on them with your home computer if you know what you're doing.
Frankly!! I don't care if you machine them out of billet titanium if you have the where with all to do that!!
So! Dill and Poison Ivy, If you ladies wish to pick up the sword and take it upon yourselves to do this task, by all means "go for it" Bring a couple of prototypes to the Halloween party to see what everyone thinks of them and we can proceed from there.
HANK.

Works for me, except the badges will probably be in the shape of a shield . I'll TRY a castle, but trying to cut something that complicated in shape out of something that small my not be possible....we'll see. ;D If anyone has another suggestion as to shape, let me know. I'll make several shapes and we can choose the most popular at the party.
