This idea was triggered by a discussion on another site. This thread is not for taking shots at the current faire website. But more of a thread to express your wishes. If you had your way, what would the faire website be like. What do you think it should have?
I have a lot of specific ideas, but I will hold off on posting them for a while to see what others come up with.
Make your thoughts known. You never know, TPTB might actually like some of them and use them in the future.

1. The website is essentially adequate, just regular updates on acts, vendors, performers as they are signed, would be nice.

Yes, regular updates on acts, vendors and performers. Current links to the vendors and performers (four or more are dead links). Updates on vendors and performers that will NOT be part of GLMF2006. (i.e. offered contracts to that have been declined) Most recent update to the webpage per its own link......08/10/05 !!!!!! People are already booking their weekends with activities and let me tell you, summer fills up fast. We are still waiting for the supposed "extras" for being a season pass holder. My recommendation would be to include a free five bucks of purple bills, along with discounts for vendors of durable goods.

1). If you comment on negativity directed to the GLMF< of course the website will be removed. 2) Cast interaction. Thats always fun. 3) Pluses, what acts the public would enjoy seeing. 4) Just PLAIN fun IS okay IN MY BOOK!
I for one appreciate and am thankful for the Trevors website.,Howere' the more websites the better!

Due to the "unofficial" GLMF message boards here with Trevor and in other locations, I think it best that any message board at the official site be left as Cast Only. This is not because I do think the cast deserves to interact with the public, but they can easily do that here and at the other boards. The new website should be: - As informational as possible
- Easy updated
- Frequently updated
- Naturally, easy to navigate.
The current site I believe, is quite a nice layout. It just needs more frequent maintenance.

And extremely important to those you HOPE to invite from out of town - links to local lodging and restaurants. Every other fair's site I've seen has such links. Especially nice if they include who's doing Fair specials and such.
Vendor links would also be great, for regulars and occasional visitors alike who, two weeks after fair closes say, DARN, I wish I'd bought that ___"
A printable daily schedule (I think they've done this before) -again especially valuable to those folks traveling to the fair.
The most important of all is to have regular updates. Anyone viewing the site who isn't in our "loop" can easily think this is a lame fair, or isn't worth bothering with, if the website isn't worth updating. Best advertising, folks!

I like the layout of the current site-but it does need more frequent maintenance. A printable daily program would be nice, links to the vendors and performers sites would be helpful.

Huzzah....... I thought I was in some alternate universe that wouldn't let me on the "real" GLMF site. Practically everything over there is from '04 and '05. The only schedule I could find over there is an old one. I'm one of those people who's summer DOES have a load of other committments, and I have spent two or three sessions cruising the web sites of possible performers, to see who has GLMF up on THEIR schedule. It's the only way that I can make sure I see who I want. Par example: Hack and Slash have the first 4 weekends listed as being at GLMF and they list somewhere else for the last two. Now, at least I know that I need to get my butt there early in the run I would LOVE to know which acts are coming for their "one shot" on a theme weekend..... Humbly........ Kit

Ok. Nice to see a few thoughts here. Let's not confuse things though. I am talking about the website, not the discussion boards. They are 2 separate entities.
Just to keep things moving along, I will post a couple of my ideas. A map of the shire. We have one in the program, why not one online. It would help people who have never been here to get an idea of what the place is like. A map of the location. The directions are nice, and the link to mapquest is great. But I think an addition map on that page would help as well. Just something that shows I90, 166, 6, 45, 534, and 528 would be great. It would be enough to let those familiar with the area, know where the faire is, without having to go through the trouble of using mapquest.
If yoiu note, both those ideas are no maintanence ideas. Once they are up, that is it. The faire isn't going to move, and the layout isn't going to change drastically any time soon. Anything that helps people find us, or get interested in us, is a good thing.

Biggest issue - keeping the site current. Current performers, current story line...just update, please!
AND...in addition to posting directions, a posted link to ODOT for highway construction updates would REALLY help. The regular route we take when coming from Warren was blocked off most of last summer and a long detour was required. And with I-90 so thoroughly under attack from orange barrels... Well, let's just say that road construction updates would help a lot!

I'd also like to see: - a list of vendors & links to their sites that is as accurate as possible. I know that a lot of faire vendors are rather "gypsy spirits" -- both IRL and online -- and their websites may change or their businesses may fold completely. - nit-picky nerd thing here.....but spell things correctly! It drives me crazy to see the category title of "Jewlry" on the Vendor page. (heck, I'd volunteer to proofread if necessary...) - a page for the photo contest. Rules, submission info, current and past winning entries. Erin

JULY 5-6 such an such a theme (they MENT AUGUST)
Aug 12-13 Such an such a theme.
Lot of sloppyness there really. HANK.

Along with what you all have written, I'd like to see an up date on where you can get tickets without ordering them thru the web sight, altho i couldn't wait and have already ordered my season pass .
