2) Yep, again Christine is right, you would be "Dame" Paige Wayneright. "Sir" is non-sensical, despite your new status as a knight-bannerette. If you insist on trying to keep the "Sir", I'll use my kingly rights and just change your whole name to "Dame Talksalot Atthreeam". "Non-sensical", you are complaining it is nonsensical? The faire has become more fantastical and nonsensical over the past couple years. The plot this year involved King Arthur and pirates! I don't think we have any more room to complain of such things. If Paige wants to be a "sir", let her. She is in good company. Marcie was always calling Peppermint Patty "sir", and on Mash Radar was always calling Margaret "sir".

True enough. ;D Very well, as what will likely be my final "royal decree", I hereby allow Dame Paige Waynewright to use the titles "Dame" and/or "Sir" to express her status as a knight-bannerette as she sees fit. If and when she ever advances to the rank of knight-sargeant, she must resolve her gender confusion and choose one over the other.
On an unrelated note, I wish that I had seen your (Jasmine's) message of "Touch not the cat.." prior to Wednesday. My cat Maeve and I had a "debate" over the merits of spray can anti-flea medicine. It went something like this: Round 1: Me: This should help get rid of those SOB's! Her: AAUGH! It's loud and scary! I'm going to jump out of the way and crouch in fear! Round 2: Me: Well, I know it's a little scary, but it doesn't hurt and it's good for you, so I'll hold you in place with the left hand and we'll try again. Her: I'll use my patented 3-Second Rapid Claw Attack of Doom on your hand! Round 3: Cancelled due to my trying to stop the bleeding from 27 individual cuts and scratches to my left hand. Round 4: Me: Come back here! *Spray* Her: Catch me if you can! Conclusions: 1. Spray can flea-repellent is good for couches and carpets, not cats. 2. I need articulated steel gauntlets for my next armour purchase.

It is an oil ointment that you drip behind their collar and it kills all fleas within a day or two. If the cat is an indoor cat...you only need to do it once.

Just back up and nuke your place from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

Yes...Sir Geoffrey is right...Advantage ....it works really really well. Also, you can go to Pets-mart(or whatever that's called) and get a less srong version of it over-the-counter so to speak. They all kill fleas that are already on them PLUS prevent new ones and it lasts for 30 days and then you have to do it again.

Actually, I would skip the over the counter -- they really do not work as well.....my brother learned that the hard way, used it on his cat and dogs, all got fleas still. Advantage is great for indoor cats -- but if you have an outdoor animal, I would go with Frontline....it kills ticks too!

I am pretty sure cats can't have any medication to kill ticks....it makes them very sick... that's why they can't use the tick version of Advantage called Advantix....that's good only for dogs...so make sure you look into that carefully first before using any product to kill ticks on a cat

On a related note. Anyone ever notice the stuff for cats cost more than the stuff for dogs? Wonder why.
And how come no stores in a 15 mile radius of us have any flea bombs left!
We got rid of the fleas on the cats and dogs about a month and a half ago. But within the past couple weeks they seem to be everywhere in the house now. And of course everyone is sold out of the bombs at the moment.

Hmmm, I don't have any cats....but, I would think the tick meds would be okay.... www.pestproducts.com/frontlinecats.htmPosted by Sir Trevor on Today at 2:47pm *L* I think because my brother bought every bomb available in Northeast Ohio........

Well, maybe it's just the Advantix brand that cats can't use...maybe something that's just in that brand. All I know is I have a dog and my kitty(of 15 years) just passed away this spring ...but when I had gone in a year ago to get the Advantix for the dog(who brought the fleas into the house and gave them to my indoor kitty ) he...the vet said that AdvanTIX can't be used on cats....?

*L* I think because my brother bought every bomb available in Northeast Ohio........ From what I have been hearing from some of the stores, there has been a huge rush on them. Must be a really bad flea season. All the hot, dry weather.

After talking with some others, this does seem to be a bad year for fleas and ticks... Anti-Flea procedures tried thus far: 1) Anti-Flea shampoo #1: results = virtually none, but did almost clog the bathtub with cat hair. 2) Flea & Pest bomb the house, then shampoo #2, then put flea collar on cat: results = no ants left in the kitchen (Yeah!), initially greatly reduced the fleas, but Maeve is still scratching away and they seem to be coming back again (got me thinking "WTF? Are these super fleas, genetically designed to survive a nuclear war or something?"). 3) Next step: on the suggestion of a friend, I am going to bomb the house again next week, on Tuesday and again on Friday, to help kill off any remaining flea eggs. Then I'll try the over-the-counter stuff. Maeve has never yet been to a vet, so the first time will probably cost $2-3 hundred to get everything done, so I'm putting it off as long as possible. 4) If that doesn't work, I'll probably go to the vet, or else just get rid of the cat and bomb the house again. Anyone want a cat? FormerQueenG? And finally, I'm really sorry for hijacking this thread! It was totally unintentional - I was more poking fun at myself for being stupid enough to try to hold down a scared cat! Greg

Your Majesty..... If I may.........Do yourself a favor and give a product called Bio-Spot, a try! They make it for both dogs and cats. It applies to the animals skin....we have used it here at the farm on dogs/ cats/ and ferrets. You can probably find it at Tractor Supply. Allyn

I find it funny to see what this topic has come to. By the way Greg, just hope I don't move this year. Mum's talking about it. Finally; I'm 14 1/2: I can call myself whatever I want. *smirk*

Hey, don't worry about hyjacking the thread. That is some of the fun of BB conversations. How they start out as one thing, then morph into another. What few I don't want to wander, I just lock so no one can post in them
